  1. What is false? That IU lacked 3 point shooters last year? Tell me where I’m wrong? Mgbako was a solid shooter and attempted 153 three’s as a freshman, 2nd most of any freshman in the conference. But who else on the team should have been shooting more three’s last year? Whatever nonsense retort you’re about to send, I could easily make the argument the team should have actually been shooting less. The idea that Galloway, Gunn, etc should have been shooting more from the perimeter is just flat out absurd. And I love how you continue to dodge the notion that Purdue played through the post every time down last season, as if playing through the post is some forbidden or unwritten rule. I’m guessing you don’t even know what “playing through the post” means, it most certainly doesn’t mean whatever you’re implying.
  2. Right. That's why I called it a grave misevaluation...the fact that he was the starting PG for 3 seasons. I don't blame Woodson and staff in the least for playing through two elite big men, I blame them for not surrounding them with better guards.
  3. We didn't shoot a lot of 3's the last two years because we had one player in the lineup each of those years capable of making 3's on any kind of volume. Purdue played through the post with two bigs on the court last year and still shot a lot of 3's because they had three players on the perimeter capable of making a high volume number of 3 point shots. This isn't hard to understand. Nobody played through the post more than Purdue last year.
  4. I think the staff is going to go all-in on Harlason and Mullins. Would be surprised if we don't get at least one.
  5. I've never been as high on Sisley as some others have been. If he wasn't a Southern IN kid I wouldn't particularly care if we recruited him or not. Was told by the same person that IU has a great shot at Haralson if he does indeed play in college. Sounds like OTE could be on the table.
  6. Ran into an old friend directly affiliated with Indiana Elite this weekend and asked him for an honest opinion on where he thinks the 17U trio is going to end up. Mullins---Indiana. Dad is loving the recruiting process and being the center of attention, but says Braylon is a momma's boy and going out of state is likely to be the deal breaker. Moreno--His gut says Kentucky. Kentucky has two blue chip in-state recruits this year and one of them is going to end up at UNC/Alabama. The optics of losing a 2nd (Moreno) are not good. Says UK will pull out all the stops to keep him home. Sisley--was surprised by this but said ND or Michigan State. Says Trent isn't as high on Indiana as people want to believe. His family, especially his dad, aren't thrilled with the idea of him going to Purdue and ND or MSU is a compromise.
  7. Woodson/staff's greatest failure by far and away was their grave misevaluation of Xavier Johnson as a starting PG in this conference. It doesn't matter what style or scheme you play if you don't have a consistent floor general. Purdue played through the post every possession last season (while playing two bigs) and shot 40% from 3 while having the 2nd most efficient offense in the country. If our back court is as good as advertised this year, style of play/scheme will become irrelevant.
  8. I'd love for Moreno to come, as I would Mullins and Sisley, but I'd have serious reservations about committing a starting role to Moreno right out of the gate. You'd still need portal help and/or hope Bryson Tiller still comes.
  9. Agree but it's getting a lot better and the city has made that a priority these last few years.
  10. This years schedule is going to end up being tougher than last year's schedule, at least metric wise, and that's really all that matters.
  11. I will never root for IU to lose. Ever. Zero ability needed there. But I’m also comfortable in my own skin as well.
  12. Yeah, I have no shame when it comes to calling out hypocrisy. You want to cheer for the team to lose, expect to be called out when your cheer once they win. Call yourself whatever you want, I’m not stopping you.
  13. You can dislike the coach without actively rooting for the team to lose (HoosierFan2017). Supporting the team while simultaneously hoping they lose has never made sense to me? How does that work?
  14. lol. Being skeptical is one thing, making things downright personal to the extent of rooting for your “team” to lose is another. HoosierFan2017 implored this board in February and March for IU to lose as it was the only way to get rid of Woodson. You actively root against your team, you shouldn’t get to enjoy future success. Woodson’s “true fan” comment was aimed at this specific type of “fan”.
  15. Don’t flatter yourself, only your dumbest takes elicit a response.
  16. We won’t miss you. Just remember to stay away in March when the going gets good.
  17. Of course, something IU has done before and something lined up for the future. But the large majority of these marquee non-conference matchups aren't two schools coming together and mutually agreeing to terms. They are playing these teams by virtue of being in the same MTE or FOX/ESPN telling them their opponent. IU is in an MTE this year that was scheduled a few year back where they should play 3 quality teams in 3 days.
  18. Most Power 5 teams don't "schedule" other Power 5 teams in the non-conference; they're paired via MTE's, Network challenges, etc It's just another blowhard talking point.
  19. Funny. Didn't mention you or even reply to you but can understand why you would need to defend your position. LOL
  20. This years schedule isn't remotely comparable to Iowa State's schedule last year. Iowa State played 9 Q4 non-conference opponents last year with six of them being sub-300 in the NET. In fact 6/14 B12 teams had Kenpom Non-conference SOS rated 300 or below. FIVE of them made the tournament.
  21. Of course not....Auburn's non-conference schedule last year was AWFUL. Baylor NET 15 Southeastern Louisiana NET 306 Notre Dame NET 124 St. Bonaventure NET 87 Alabama A&M NET 326 Appalachian ST NET 72 Indiana NET 98 UNC-Asheville NET 163 USC NET 88 Alabama St NET 314 Chattanooga NET 140 Penn NET 212 There are legit crazy people who need professional help when it comes to Woodson. Can not reason with people who choose emotion over fact.
  22. We're in a tournament with two preseason top 10 teams and 2-3 other tournament caliber teams. Perhaps that factored into the equation? South Carolina was a tournament team last year and has one of the best young coaches in the game. I understand you don't personally like it, that's life. It's far from "soft". In fact in could end up being really tough assuming we don't flame out in the first round of the Bahamas.
  23. Prior coaches routinely played 5, 6, sometimes even 7 sub 300 opponents in a single non-conference slate. This years schedule is nowhere close to that. I know teams like UNC-Greensboro, Winthrop, Sam Houston St don't jump off the screen but they are all significantly better than playing teams like Alcorn St, Mississippi Valley, Bethune Cookman, etc
