  1. IU has it worse. Payne will not be the coach of Louisville next season. IU will be stuck with coach Woodson another year.
  2. My guess is McDermott to Ohio State and Schertz to Creighton.
  3. These 3 people probably looked at the first 2 years as successes. Thus, the unwarranted raise. Many of us felt like we underperformed in years 1 and 2 based on the talent on the roster. Evidently, the decision makers are glass half full people when it comes to coach Woodson.
  4. Nebraska is 0-7 on the road in the Big Ten. Defending home court should be almost automatic. It will be an embarrassment if we lose this game at home. I guess we'll find out if the team has checked out on the season.
  5. Did any of our visiting recruits verbal to us yesterday? They had to be impressed.
  6. Problem solved! Nets job just opened up. Coach Woodson is most certainly near the top of their wish list. DWS
  7. Woodson has powerful friends in the Cooks and Buckner. He also has CAA (Creative Artists Agency) behind him that would probably threaten to go scorched earth on IU in the press if IU was to fire coach Woodson.
  8. It seems like our coaches and players don't hate losing enough.
  9. If we fire him, we're paying coach his money. If we get him to retire, the negotiated exit would probably be around 80% of his remaining money. So, if you're going to have to pay him, why not give him an ambassador role? You could use his health as a reason to move to this type of role. Everyone saves face.
  10. Our best hope is that coach Woodson could be talked into moving to an ambassador role with the Athletic Department. Let him maintain his current salary and coach can meet and greet big donors. Imo, firing coach Woodson won't happen (at least for 2 more years), but getting him move into an ambassador role or retire is a much more likely scenario.
  11. Why would a Drew or Pearl leave a comfortable situation that they have built to come to IU? We have become just another Big Ten team. That saddens me to write, but it's true. Bob Knight built something special and we've squandered our inheritance.
  12. Unfortunately, if coach Woodson doesn't realize that he's not the guy to turn Indiana around and resign, my fond memories of Mike Woodson the player will be overshadowed by the mediocrity of Mike Woodson, the coach.
  13. Mike Woodson said the offensive issues were “simple” in his postgame press conference. “You watched the same game I did,” Woodson said. “You got to make shots. We had some good looks and we just didn’t knock them down. Nothing scientific about it. We moved the ball well enough to get open shots. You got to step up and make them. It’s that simple.” This is the same excuse Archie gave game after game. Every team misses shots. You make up for off nights by limiting turnovers, rebounding and hustling after loose balls to get extra possessions. Three things that we haven't done all year. Seems like something a coach would demand and work on. We've missed our free throws all year. I'm tired of hearing we shoot them in practice. How about improving the players form? I assumed that was one of the things coaches were paid to do. In my opinion, Mike Woodson and his staff are guilty of coaching malpractice.
  14. Fans: "IU basketball is on the wrong path and needs to be fixed!" Scott Dolson: "You're right, but we need to wait another year. The Mike Woodson vanity project isn't over yet."
  15. The fact there seems to be no improvement on free throws is frustrating. It's on the players and the staff. Where is the effort? Mgbako has gotten worse as the year has progressed.
  16. I wonder if one was to have a conversation today with Coach Woodson if he could tell you more about what is going on in the NBA today than college or high school basketball? Great college basketball coaches have to be college basketball junkies. I don't perceive Coach Woodson as a college basketball junkie based on what I've read or heard.
  17. ESPN gameday had a feature on Schertz this morning. It was a very positive on how he had ISU ranked for the first time since Larry Bird. I really like this guy. He's a proven winner.
  18. Well, that dream was short lived. Back on the Dusty train.
  19. I hope we didn't pay for the new uniforms. If I remember correctly, several years ago we had an AD that paid a Marketing firm (that his daughter worked at) to come up with an IU mascot. A million dollars later and no mascot.
  20. I anticipate that we'll win on Sunday. Imo, it is a must win game tomorrow for coach Woodson. We've had a week to prepare, Northwestern is bad on the road, and they no longer have Ty Berry. We've been embarrassed at home against Purdue and Penn State. That should never happen and can't happen again. If it does, Woodson and Dolson might hear some boos from the crowd on Sunday.
  21. Great! Now I have to take the time to GOOGLE what you are talking about.
  22. No, that was Isaac Haas that was sued for that.
  23. Article on Michigan program apathy from fans and AD. Column: The Michigan men’s basketball program is in shambles, and no one seems to care (msn.com)
  24. We can agree to disagree. Galloway shot 65 threes last year and hit 30. Assuming 5 were lucky bounces, that would still be 25 of 65 which is approximately 39%. The difference in shooting from year to year is most likely mechanics which can and should be fixed.
  25. Someone posted something a while back about mid majors played a lot of 3 guard offenses since they have difficulty recruiting bigs. Most Big Ten teams don't play 3 or 4 guards at a time. College basketball is a guards game, especially with the 3-point shot. I think that style translates well to the tournament. This was an interesting read. Check out this thread currently on page 2. How much does the Big Ten affect Woody roster and scheme?
