What makes Beard a top coach. He has had two really good seasons and the rest are just average. Doesn't that sound a lot like Crean

I am not talking about the administration but the fans turning on coaches at the first site if trouble.

If you are talking about offense being boring so that would eliminate Beard and TJO since their offense isn't very good.

What is so funny Certified. The IU fans were used to the up tempo Hurrying Hoosiers and didn't like the slow pace and defensive oriented style of RMK. It didn't take long for the fans to change when they saw it win big.

Maybe this is why we get crappy coaches because the top coaches don't want to come here. They see the fan base turns quickly on the coach if they don't win right away.

What excites me is a 30-3 record. I take substance over style any day. I thought I read where his championship teams averaged over 80 points a game. Maybe he feels like this is the style he has to play for this team to win

I am just wondering if we are just delusional or we just don't really pay attention to college basketball. Big time coaches don't need or want to come here because they can already succeed where they are right now. With the comment how we have the win right away just shows our mentality and why coaches might not want to coach here.

I would say that it is more that those candidates are interested in the job

Our only great coach RMK came to IU as a 31 year old coach who played a deliberate offense and a great defense. Our fans were use to the Hurrying Hoosiers and didn't like this kind of basketball but it didn't take much time for the fans to buy in.

Still can't get caught up but it appears there are some drama queens posting today. I see we should just get rid of the basketball program or this search is a complete failure. I don't understand why anyone would be surprised that those coaches mentioned would not be interested in the job. Our fans need to just look at the past hiring cycles and realize you don't see many power conference coaches leaving for another job. The ones who will leave are guys like Beard or Brownell who are at lower tier power conference teams.

To me if a player doesn't play 30% of the games they should get another year and shouldn't matter when you played those games. The NCAA gave every player a covid year even though everyone played a whole regular season so Goode should get another year.

Nate Oats was a high school coach and within 8 years he got the Alabama job. Also there is a risk with anyone you hire

Of course there are hit and misses. What I am trying to show is that getting other top power conference coaches to leave is not very likely. There have been very few top jobs where you see a successful power conference coach leave for another one. If you want a power conference coach it will more than likely be Beard, who I don't want or Brownell, Buzz Williams. If it was up to me I take McCollum over those type of coaches.

All I am saying that those top power 4 coaches are more than likely not leaving their current job. I just think all of these rumors are going to get some of you upset because we probably are not going to get a top coach from a power conference. Show me all of these power conference coaches leaving their current jobs for other power conference jobs. Did these blue bloods hire major conference coaches. Duke No UNC No UK No UL No Syracuse No Villinova No I think the chances to get a Drew or a TJO is very slim. I rather take a chance on McCollum over Beard

How many of those guys had accomplished what McCollum has done. I don't care what division you are coaching, winning 4 championships is great. If you are a winner you can win anywhere
