Just seems strange for a guy who works in another athletic department spends so much time on a IU board. I also find it strange that an athletic office talks so much about other programs like he describes they do.

So how do you know this info is even true. This is why rumors are a bad thing when people actually take them as fact instead of taking it with a grain of salt. People are already playing out this scenario even though no one knows anything

Yes, but there is a long time between now and next October's Hoosier Hysteria. The new coach will have to pretty much replace the entire team. To get a winner year 1, I believe we need a name to get the players in here to compete at a high enough level to win big. I'm not saying anyone has to agree with me, but I think IU has fallen too far down, become a laughing stock amongst the traditional blue bloods...need some name validation with this hire. What is your definition of winning in year 1. I want a coach who will bring a culture of toughness and smart play. I want a coach who is long term who will recruit to his system and not go just for stars. I want a coach who will build his roster by high school kids and supplement tbe roster with the portal. If that takes a couple of years until we are competing for the conference title and making a run in the tournament. I don't want to have to bring in a new roster every time eat through the portal

I personally would be fine with them, however, I still don't think they make the casual fan excited. We may not be able to get coaches who I think would excite (Stevens, Donovan, Wright, Pearl, Self to a certain degree, etc.). It's just my opinion which doesn't have any influence on the situation whatsoever. What will get fans excited is winning.

I didn't realize Brownell had that big of a buyout. To me there is no way Dolson would pay an 8 million buyout for a guy like Brownell. I can't remember where I heard this but they said the largest buyout a school has paid in basketball was between 4-5 Million

I agree...there are a lot of names that will unite the majority of the fan base, but we need to get a freaking NAME. Gotta make a splash. People bring up Duke, UK, even UL as schools that didn't make a splash hire. We NEED it more than any of them. IU's mediocrity has settled in for too long to make a blah hire. We don't need a name, we need a good coach

That is why I always think these kind of rumors hurt the program because these rumors have no merit. People come on here and start these rumors thinking it is funny but to me it hurts more than it is funny. Since people want IU to be great again they want to believe anything but when it doesn't happen then they blame the administration for not doing their job.

So are you saying we will hear Donovan resignation from the Bulls this weekend and we will hire him Monday LOL!

Pretty good watch and at around the 40 minute mark he talks about the coaching search. To the posters who don't want McCollum you will like what Galen says about him. I don't know if he knows much but with him doing a lot of sports media at IU you would think he has some knowledge.

To me those two would be like UK having to hire someone like Mark Pope, damn that is who they hired
