  1. I have a question for everyone on here. What will you do if the coach that is hired is a coach you are not in favor of? I just hope every fan will support whatever coach is hired and fully give him a chance. There are a few I am not in favor of and if by chance one of them are hired I will support that coach and give it a chance. If it is Beard I will pray he has changed and trust that Dolson did a thorough background check
  2. Instead of worrying about being able to get 5 star players I want a coach who can identify and develop talent that fits into his system. McCollum probably won't land many 5 stars at least at first but I would have confidence he can get guys who are a notch below them. I see no reason he couldn't get talent on the level of Purdue right now those players would fit McCollum's system. I don't look at all the advance metrics but some math guy at IU guy said the lineup of 1 big with Goode,Leal, Galloway and Rice has a better offensive rating than Duke has. I guess what I am saying is that you don't have to have a roster of 5 star players to be effective.
  3. I would bet he would put a lot more effort in recruiting than Woodson did. Woodson still got his share of top players despite having to be told to go out and recruit.
  4. I think 8-10 years ago Oats was coaching high school basketball then went to Buffalo and now is at Alabama. So he didn't have big time experience.
  5. I think more teams will go with a GM because there is to much work for the HC to do all of the recruiting. Wasn't it mentioned in the Stevens rumors that he wanted a GM.
  6. I rather look at reality over random Internet rumors
  7. SMH Woodson No Archie No Crean No I wouldn't say leaving Marquette is leaving a top job. It would be equivalent to a coach like McDermott leaving Creighton Sampson yes Also if you look at the college landscape the last few years will show you it doesn't happen often.
  8. Well UK couldn't get their top choices or UL. UK probably has as much money as we do and their job is better than ours. Most coaches won't mess with winning or happiness so why would they leave their current jobs
  9. They also say you move on when he says no
  10. I still don't understand how some of you are surprised that other power conference coaches are not knocking our door down to coach here. Has the other hires in the last few years not prove to you it isn't likely you will get another top coach to leave their jobs.
  11. Comments like this is why I hate the rumors posted on here that never have been verified. The only place I have seen Stevens as a legitimate candidate are on our message boards. Every national college basketball analysts I have seen just laugh at the notion of Stevens leaving the Celtics for the IU job.
  12. There is no such thing as a sure thing.so you just have to take a risk sometimes. So show me in the last 5-10 years where all of these top coaches have left their current power jobs for another one. Calipari to Arkansas and he left more to get out of UK Can't think of to many more off the top of my head
  13. Page 1981 a great year to be a Hoosier fan
  14. Off the top of my head these guys were all at one time a mid major coach. Calhoun Hurley Oats Pearl Self Golden Painter TJO Drew Cronin
  15. RMK was .500 against Purdue
  16. Duncan Robinson went from D3 to UM and now has had a long NBA career
  17. Who are those sure things. It won't be Stevens,Drew,TJO or May so there are no thing as a sure thing either I would take a chance on McCollum over guys like Beard, Wade,Collins or Brownell
  18. Yes they will try to go big game hunting but more than likely won't get the big game. How has KU shown they hire big time coaches lately since they haven't hired a new coach for over 20 years. They hired Roy Williams who had no HC experience. If you look at the all time great coaches very few went from one elite job to another. Most of them started at a mid major then got their major job and stayed at one place.
  19. Nobody is a can't miss prospect
  20. All the proof you need is the hires from blue bloods the last few years to see that top coaches aren't leaving their current jobs for another job. UCONN Hurley Rhode Island UK Pope BYU UL Kelsey C of C UNC Davis Assistant coach Duke Shchyer Assistant Coach UCLA Cronin UC
  21. We sports fans are a weird bunch. We all have candidates we like and would like to see hired and we spend hours trying to make others see what we see. I like McCollum and would like to see him hired so why do I care if others don't like him. Why do we try to justify our opinions and try to change others mind because im the end none of it matters. IU will hire a coach who they feel is the best fit to coach IU. All of us will have a choice after the hire the next coach. You can either support the choice or find another team to follow.
  22. Pitino didn't leave the big east for UK Also show me the last few years where a lot of coaches left power conference teams for other power teams. Calipari left because he was getting heat and wanted out.
  23. So if IU had hired Kelsey last year our fan base would have been outrage. UL thought they had May after Drew said no. UK went after Hurley and Drew before selecting Pope
  24. So why did UK have to settle for Pope or UL for Kelsey
  25. I just don't see a reason for the guys like TJO or Drew to leave for this job because they can win there and with less pressure. Why do you think UK had to settle for Pope or UL with Kelsey. Top coaches don't leave for other power conference teams. It shouldn't be real hard to understand that
