I U had the best college coach at that time. It is the same coach who in 1984 took a freshman in Alford and a bunch of average players and beat the #1 team in UNCa UNC had 4 starters who were picked in the top 7 of their respective drafts Jordan, Daugherty, Perkins and Smith

We might just have to come to the realization that today's top players might not see IU as a great destination. It might not be anyone's fault it is just reality. We have blamed multiple coaches and AD's for our failures but it might just be today's college basketball. Also it has been said a lot of top players aren't interested in playing in the big ten because of style of play. Hopefully with the 4 new teams and Maryland hire someone like Buzz Williams who aren't big ten guys might change that. It seems like the big ten doesn't attract a lot of long athletic wing players who can run the court well. If you watch a big ten game and then watch an SEC or Big 13 game it doesn't look like the same game. Also it had been so proven that you can build a consistent winner without having to only get top recruits or a lot of portal players. Both Purdue and Marquette has been pretty consistent the last 5 or so years and they don't have many highly ranked players

To me we are a blue blood program but not elite at this time. Blueblood is your overall history of your program Elite is where your program is at right now.

How do you know we are relying more on revenue sharing than NIL

The 87 team didn't have blue chip players but were the overall #1 seed in the tournament

I assume if money had dried up some it would be from the Woodson guys who weren't happy of his firing

I went back and looked at the recruiting classes of UL and UM for the 2025 class. These were classes that both coaches brought in for their first class which was before they coached a game at that school. This is the same scenario that Devries is doing this year. UL class was ranked 25th with a 3 high school players and UM was ranked 30th with 3 high school play. Both had one highly ranked player one being a 5 star and another a high 4 star player. Looking at this should have made us realize that getting all 3 of Thompson, Almond and Taylor was probably unrealistic. Getting all 3 to go along with Prince Alexander probably would be at least a top 20 class. I still haven't seen anything that makes it look like we won't get any of those players

The one thing that worries me about Taylor is his high school teammate is going to MSU

I thought since his visit to IU and didn't take other visits we were a lock for him. Now that he took other visits and Maryland this weekend makes me a little worried about getting him As for Thompson what I have read it is between us and OSU and IU and MSU for Taylor. I would love to get all 3 but would be thrilled with two.

I would say Alberto will have enough experience going into next year because it will be here s third year in this system

Sounds like it is IU vs OSU for Thompson IU vs MSU and KU for Taylor Some have said KU is losing ground

From what I have heard that Houston was the leader but that could have changed

I still think your roster foundation still needs to be from high school recruiting with most ranked between 25-70. Those type of recruits will probably be in your program for multiple years.
