Transfer Portal w IU Interest
J34 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
To who? You do realize the "offseason" has literally just started. So far we've landed the most important portal player for our coach and his system. Why don't we let a full offseason and in season play out, before we start with a new coaching search. This time next year, we can judge how lackluster things were. -
And maybe a championship or two
-
And he played for, and coached with one of the greatest coaches ever. He knows what talent looks like up close. Plus, he has good bloodlines. His dad could coach. And play. And a great analyst/color commentator. CC knows his stuff. And this job wouldn't scare him. PS- Not advocating for him, just a really fun guy to watch coach. Always outmatched, but rarely out coached.
-
If someone is praying for anyone as our next coach, they have bigger issues than who the next coach is. Speaking of "young emerging coaches", how did AM work out?

Something will stick

In fairness, weren't you touting Shrewsberry as the next A+ hire a while back?

I asked Grok on X, who IU will hire as their next basketball coach, and here was the answer.

Joe Bonamassa

The Stevens are going to be empty nesters soon, children in Midwest schools, Family and childhood friends in Midwest, Last opportunity to have your dream job, getting ansty with that stuffy office job? Thinking about where you want to settle in as two, means more now, than any other time as a couple. Who knows. Either way, this is turning into a win-win situation for us IU fans. Finally getting to watch high iq/high energy basketball, and we're getting a new coach. In Scott We Trust

Maybe Stevens is considering the move back to college because the NBA ratings are down, and it just isn't a very good product anymore.

Way back to Bracey Wright? -
The irony of you calling anything toxic is laughable. How is criticizing Beard any different than getting on here everyday and repeating the same garbage about Woodson. Is he the second coming of the devil? Should we put winning above all else. Get off your high horse about people not wanting a guy who admits to having a drinking issue, and had DV (suffocation /strangulation) charges dropped, which most cases are. You hate CMW for not winning games, but love Beard because he'll win us more games. Isn't you criticizing others for having a different viewpoint, essentially you judging others?
-
I believe the number of DV cases that are dropped by the victim is around 70-80%. Sad.
-
Love his energy and has plenty of connections. And a ringing endorsement from Coach K would carry some weight. Not saying he's a sure thing, but man would love to see him with more talent.
-
I would absolutely be okay with a Collins, after a few more get crossed off. Would love to see his system ran with better athletes. Great bloodline.
-
But a coach who admits he needs alcohol after a stressful day doesn't make you have concerns. Would this pond be too big for him to keep his stress reliever under control?
-
Kind of like some people trashing our current coach day in and day out? I'm not a fan of Woodson, but you acted like he was accused of domestic abuse. Pot meet kettle.
-
I thought we were the only ones with a "toxic" fanbase lol
-
Definitely hard no's lol

This isn't an airport, no need to announce a departure. It's a free message board, come and go as you please. If anyone is putting too much stock(one way or another) in the search, then it's on them. Not sure it ranks in my top ten in priorities in my daily life.

Have you seen the list of the top wishlists of the UK faithful? In their eyes, where did Pope sit? Top 10? We have different expectations, realistic or not, and that's okay. With the money being talked about, someone on this list won't be able to turn us down. Maybe I'm delusional, but this program is due. I think Dolson is going to get the right guy.
