Thanks…. I just signed up for one day 24 hour SLING PASS because of your post. I was planning on going to Wings Etc where I watched IU vs Oregon. However, Sling pass has ESPN on my IPhone and I am going to watch the game and listen on fm 93.1 at home. As a 74 year old guy I plan to celebrate this game with the greats; Don Fischer and Buc Shur along with ESPN at home.

In 3 years there may be a short shot that Josh Schertz is on St Louis bench…. But I highly doubt it….always hope. He is a winner and his teams are fun to watch. Just a different level of coach.

Dolson and credit Whitten (give Whitten much credit) made a lucky pulled rabbit out of the hat hire with Cignetti hire and Cignetti has made him and everyone else look like geniuses. However, basketball at IU is idiotic.

Iowa is ok but not that good. IU is playing at home and is slow step behind every play defense and offense not crisp nor challenging and lacks intensity. It looks like the team stayed up all night and struggled to get out of bed at 10:00am this morning. Maybe, their hair is weighing them down looking like they just got out of bed…..they should all have to get haircuts because it is affecting their focus, movement and not hard nose enough. (to lackluster) If IU football defense can get Miami offensive line to play a step slow it will be good news for IU.

C. Thompson brings swagger to IU Ladies. My observation: you can identify several top Ladies coaches who have swagger ability and confidence that can handle the very best top players with egos, their own swagger, personalities, behaviors etc. and sustain success…… Observation: It seems many 96+ rated players shy away from IU Ladies or T. Moren may shy away from them ((lack of recruiting battles for 5 star 96+ players and hardly ever getting one if any….when IU Ladies tried to recruit a few 5 stars @ 96+)) maybe lacks the confidence to deal with them as IU Ladies player unless they have a high character of compliance to what she often preaches. T. Moren seems to want that compliant player who obeys and follows what T. Moren knows and feels comfortable with. (Last couple years NIL has entered picture) (yes she deals with high level players on team USA for a short period of time but how many recruits has she gotten from that = 0. Zania was already a member of IU Ladies program.

Yes, year one minus anything to abnormal has to be a grace period. Sidenote: Josh Schertz is a guy who has and continues to establish a resume of WINNING in whatever he does from tennis to basketball to living life. JUST GOOGLE HIM. Lol. He is going to end up at a big time program in the not too distant future (when the timing is right….and do well…he is just one of those guys kind of guys).

Still want T. Moren to coach at IU…. not sure how it works but it has crossed my mind of her becoming a full time coach for USA basketball because of her involvement if that’s even a possibility as in full time unless it was changed into that.

In year 2 Josh Shertz St. Louis Billikens 16-1 for 2025-2026 season. Only 1 point loss at Stanford as of January 15, 2026.

IU Ladies need to retool again to be competitive….to play in top half of big ten. (8th place and above). IU Ladies need to retain the following players for 2016-2027: Current players: Makalusky, Caffey, Noyan, Beaumont, Socka Nguemenn needs a lot of help plus unsure where her ability (how good she is or may be (unknown)) and injury prone takes her. Use Z in double post or not sure about moving her to a power forward with high quality post player, Wiseman if she wants to stay (don’t expect anything from her), Stotijon (don’t expect anything) Incomming players: Jackson (don’t expect much as a freshman), Nyemcheck and Battle will play, James (don’t expect much) Transfer Portal: Lots of Money….and a 6’4” high level scorer and rebounder, and a 6’2” wing high level scorer and rebounder. TRANSFER PORTAL CANNOT BE USED TO JUST FILL ROSTER SPOTS AND HOPE FOR DEVELOPMENT BASED ON IMAGINARY POTENTIAL THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN. (players that play must be able to pass and handle ball kind of a given…and play some kind of defense….defense is important but a team has to score points rather than trying to hold teams to in the 60s almost every game. That’s a total of 13 players. Another reset or retooling back to back seasons…. is much needed because 2 very high quality players needed from transfer portal that will be starters capability on this team……every player will have to earn what there impact or role is on the team. (couple players not mentioned may or not stay since roster can have 15 players). If the above doesn’t happen don’t expect much more than what is happening because minus weak teams on schedule other teams including most big ten teams have maintained and or are leaving the IU Ladies basketball program in the dust.

2026 state of IU Ladies Basketball and a highly ranked 2026 recruiting class is a misnomer in that it’s going to get much better.…..unless a couple highly regarded players come in from transfer portal (not to just fill roster spots but are actually really really good physical scorers and shooters are recruited and choose to play for IU Ladies next year….to go along with current key players and 2026 recruits. (Bunches of money and a really good big needed from transfer portal and a high scoring really good wing needed). Current state of IU Ladies Basketball.
