  1. Cronin seems like the emergency parachute option. I know some highly disagree though.
  2. Agree. I’m hopeful it is still Stevens (the timing and dots connect in my desperate brain) … but I’m certain, if it is him, he most likely told Dolson he wants to work in his capacity as Celts GM through waiver deadline.
  3. We’re all message board warriors and just make up / believe anything. We’re desperate. i don’t think Dolson is sending fake flights bc he knows we’re tracking. I don’t think there are any intentional smoke screens. We All just know very little and wildly guess and speculate. Which makes coaching searches so awesome. and to the people that hear stuff and share what they hear … kudos. We appreciate it. It makes this board the best and why we refresh these pages more than paying attention to our actual jobs.
  4. So just too risky to take a chance given where iu was and is today? I could understand that. This hire, imo, has to be a proven guy. Can’t take a risk with an up and comer. A lot of good young coaches who may turn out awesome, but where iu is today - need a proven guy.
  5. Curious too. Why no Wade? I get he made mistakes in the past, but he paid his dues with the NCAA (who most of us probably trust FIFA or the IOC more than NCAA). Major programs were vetting $ean Miller last off season or two as well. Hate to go there, but Wades offenses are much more forgivable than Beards
  6. And Dolson had Pearl and May lined up. I know people said the Pearl ship sailed, last year or never, and the stuff with his son …. But i do wonder if he’d reconsider?
  7. Really? Im personally impressed what he’s done at NW.
  8. Exactly. But with that said, there just has to be some truth to something or else he’d be in the state of Kentucky somewhere.
  9. Why did Louisville and UK pass on Beard? I know people have alluded to things. There HAS to be more out there about him than the general public is aware.
  10. Collins is near the top of my list!!!
  11. Archie was a great hire at the time. 100%. Something ive always wondered … did he really want TJD? As you mentioned, he came from Dayton and one year made the tourney with no kid taller than 6’6” or something. Then he gets IU job and sort of feels the need to get Indiana kids … and here is a big man. Archie never really ran a big man system and if you take TJD, you need to run an offense through the post. He obviously had to recruit TJD, but if TJD was say, from the state of WI, would he have ever gone after him?
  12. Dolson was ready to hire 64 year old Pearl. Then QB got in the way again. Word is that ship has completely sailed ….. but you never know. If he wins it at Auburn this year, he may consider a new challenge - one he’s always coveted. I still think Stevens and May are plan A and B, so we’ll see if it gets past those.
  13. Great input. Also, if I’m not mistaken, firing Archie was a quid pro quo too? ‘I’ll give you the $10mm to fire Archie and you recruit Stevens. If Brad says no, you hire Woodson’. If that is true, I don’t know where Dolson went along and essentially hired Matta and iu had two coaches? Did Dolson think he could get the $10mm and get Matta approved? Either way, I agree. This sounds like Doldons hire 100% without any interference.
  14. Woodson had every opportunity to be successful here but he and his ego got on his own way. It’s pathetic
  15. @Chris007 has been awesome through this and always. His willingness to share what he hears makes this board the best.
  16. QB flexed on him last offseason. Dolson talked to Pearl and May. QB said if Archie gets 4, woody gets 4 (and arranged $6mm) for him to guarantee Woodson didn’t suck this year. And here we are.
  17. Dolson has not been able to act as AD for bball. QB has been Woodsons bodyguard for 4 years. Dolson wasn’t scared - he got out powered. that will change going forward. finally - something to think about … a few days before the Woodson retirement (firing) announcement came out, a story was published (leaked) about QB taking the private jet … coincidence?
  18. He wanted to. QB interfered - again.
  19. I posted this earlier, but I think some people don’t feel like his resume is long enough and that his F4 run was more of a fluke. Also, someone mentioned he didnt love the way Woodson was treated last weekend vs UM. Finally - his family is still close and like the fact he’s a bit further away - just to avoid the potential risk if it doesn’t end up well in Bloomington. with that said, given his buyout, I still think he’s plan B. He knew iu would be in this situation this offseason. And Dolson approached him last offseason. Others have mentioned his buyout is low due to UM not knowing how he’d pan out (which I could see too). we’ll see I suppose. If he signs the contract raise soon with UM, then probably means Dolson has Stevens locked down!!?!? Right???!?
  20. I’m trying to convince myself anyway possible that’s it’s Brad!
  21. What if May signs amended contract with UM bc he knows Dolson locked up Stevens?!?!!
  22. He’s on my list!
  23. Would McDermott leave for IU? He seems to be in a good spot. How is their NIL? I know his name is in every coaching search cycle, but curious if he truly wants to move on?
  24. Dolson tried. QB got in the way again. Luckily May negotiated his buyout knowing we’d be in the spot we’re in now.
  25. I think some people don’t think May has a long enough resume and think his tourney run was more of a fluke. But given his buyout and the fact that Dolson was ready to hire him last offseason, I have to think he is plan B. people said he was turned off after the game in Bloomington last weekend with the treatment Woodson got, but who knows. People have also mentioned his family being so close and maybe don’t want him at iu bc if it doesn’t go well, it may not end well (no pun intended). Pearl was also approached last offseason and said last year or never. Then all the stuff with his son. So we’ll see.
