What else is there about Beard besides what happened while at Texas? Others have alluded to it and say there are other skeletons in the closet. I’m not doubting it, but genuinely curious.

Given the timing of all this, best guess is Stevens. As @Chris007 mentioned, if they did this now and were targeting a current college coach, those schools would scramble to amend those coaches contracts.

I’m guessing it’s not up to Dolson how to announce it. Dolson basically didn’t have anything to do with Woodson and still doesn’t. It’s all Woodsons body guards. Once this experiment is over, Dolson will (should) be able to act in his capacity as AD.

Fair point. I didn’t see it that way. I also remember reading that allegedly, Dolson had Pearl and May basically lined up last offseason before QB intervened (again). So that probably biased my line of thinking. I suppose time will tell.

Normally I’d agree, But his buyout suggests he wanted to see what happens at IU this offseason. UM caved bc they were so desperate to get back on track. He turned down Louisville due to the buyout clause.

NBA coaching is a way better lifestyle. I personally don’t see Donovan leaving. Stevens didn’t leave college coaching bc he hated coaching. Now with Indiana NIL, the timing is perfect for him and he checks every known box … hence why he’s by far and away the #1 candidate

I find it hard to believe iu would hire beard. But all of that aside, do you think May has more upside and is a better coach than Beard? I think May is Plan B for Dolson, but I’m not totally sold on him yet. Trying to talk myself into him being the second best candidate. I think beard is a great coach and would do extremely well here, he just has more red flags than red sweaters.

Woodson had every opportunity to succeed here. Just got in his own way. Really a shame. that’s why this hire cannot be a risky one. No up and comers like McCollum. Need a proven college coach.

QB overruled Dolson to hire him. QB overruled Dolson again last offseason when Dolson was ready to move on. Woodson had BoT protection and $6mm this year to build a roster. Thats all gone now. Dolson can finally do his job.

He’s stated previously it’s his dream job. Son is at ND. Parents are getting older and Bloomington is closer to home. A lot has changed. Celts for sale. New nba contract rules. Won a ring. If he passes and a guy like May takes it, the job won’t open for 15+ years. It’s now or never for him. allegedly he left originally bc he didn’t like recruiting kids and schools coming in the 11th hour and stealing them. IU NIL changes a lot of that.

Agree. Im positive the players hear all the noise too. So - if he were to announce, the troops may actually rally a bit.
