Transfer Portal w IU Interest

Add a couple freshman, including Acaden Lewis, and this would be pretty ideal. -

Love the fact we are recruiting guys being pursued by top SEC teams. Suggests DDV is going after a more athletic type than many of our B1G compatriots. -

Or would it be Conerway, Mack, Wilkerson, TDV, Bailey? -

But I thought that if we didn't lock Wilkerson up by yesterday the program was dead? -

Any word on how the Conerway visit is going? -

Yes, there are certainly differences, which is fair to note. But I don't think the differences are so drastic that it totally undermines the point. Some people are freaking out way too prematurely. -

Guys, you do all realize the way our portal season is playing out is EXACTLY the same as what Louisville, Michigan, and UK went through last year, right? Slow to sign guys, few top portal signees, fans doubting that the new coach had the moxie to win at the highest level... And we all saw how those situations turned out. Again, chill... -

I think a top 30 KenPom team is a reasonable standard for year one with IU's resources. That's effective Louisville, just without the ACC-inflated record. -

Different strokes for different folks, then. Way more people statistically would prefer to live in California, NY, Texas, and Florida. You literally couldn't pay me to live in any of those states. And having said that, Bloomington is also the only place I'd live in Indiana. -

Based on the doom and gloom last night, I though Wilkerson already left town. But he's still here this morning? So we can still get a commitment before he leaves, in which case all the complaining and moaning was for naught. -

I agree there are some red flags. But there are also other recent examples (Michigan last year) suggesting that we can still field a successful team out of the portal despite our relative lack of players at the stage. So in my mind, the (apparent) struggles are definitely something to watch, but I'm going to give DDV a full season and recruiting cycle before getting too concerned. Besides, it's not like there are any other options at this point but to wait and see... -

Yes and no. We need more guys to fill the roster, but other teams still have to pay the rest of the guys on their rosters to retain them. So it's not as if they can just throw $3-4 million each at three guys and call it a day. -

It's certainly not a concrete jungle...the joke is that there are no stores in Storrs. CT is quite sleepy once you get ENE of Hartford... -

Wasn't saying that, just that Storrs isn't the relevant measure. -

I think this is totally fair and a good point. But at the same time, aside from Dix and Conwell, how many guys have we really missed on, that we know of? Sure, lots of players have already committed, but there's no reason to think DDV was interested in most of them. Many of these guys may simply not have been a good schematic or cultural fit. -

Isn't he out of eligibility? He played 13 games this year. Guessing he's seeking a waiver of some kind, but I don't know how strong the chances of that are. -

I compltely agree in general. That having been said, I am giving DDV a lot more leeway this year than Woodson last year, because Woody already had a track record of questionable talent evaluation. If DDV misses on a good share of this year's roster, then I'll be more skeptical moving forward. But for now, I give him the benefit of the doubt, because he knows much more ball than I do, and has a much better sense of how a guy fits his scheme than I could. -
There are legitimate reasons, you just rule them out out of hand.

Not sure I agree with that. WVU has had a final four, an Elite 8, and 5 Sweet 16s since IU's last final four.
