Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think he more sources with this staff than with Woodson, in the form of Adams and Johnson. People can believe him or not, it doesn't matter to me. I'm just passing on what he's saying because he definitely has more sources than most or all of this board. It's his job, after all. -

Rabby says that OV is a women's recruit. He also says that he's not feeling it with Hawthorne. -
I think you need to make a new account.

IU has offered 5* PF 6'9" Toni Bryant. Possibly waiting until spring before committing. 247 https://247sports.com/college/indiana/board/105672/contents/national-top10-2026-prospect-toni-bryant-receives-an-indiana-scholarship-offer-249932156/?page=1

(2027) - Ryan Hampton
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Younger brother of former 5* recruit RJ Hampton who skipped college altogether to play a year of professional ball in New Zealand. Rabby says that Rod Clark has known the family for years. He also says something about Clark knowing Jermaine O'Neal for years. O'Neal runs both his prep school and AAU team. It might be worth noting that SMU is recruiting Hampton. Hampton's dad played there and O'Neal Jr has committed to play there. We'll see if that matters or not. -

The argument there is that JUCO isn't under the NCAA. -

Was he the one trying to get time at D2 to not count against D1 eligibility? If so, then I'm glad he lost. -
(2027) PG - Chase Branham to INDIANA
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Planning to visit IU on Thursday, according to Rabby. He didn't say if it was an OV or not. Of note, Norton played for Branham's AAU team. -
(2026) - Latrell Allmond to OK State

Rod Clark has been involved with him for a while, UT offered September 2023. Started out as an undersized 5 but has become more of a 4 who can now guard both positions. Sounds like he's a very good defensive player who can block shots and get steals. -
They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

His agent probably had a PR person write that for him. -
(2026) - Jordan Smith to Arkansas

Kenny Johnson is the lead. He was previously recruiting him for GT. He talks a lot about style of playing being one of the most important factors. Wants to play fast. The reason he wants to wait until next spring to commit is that he wants to have the opportunity to play immediately so he wants to see how teams look after the transfer cycle. -
(2026) - PG Taylen Kinney to Kansas

Rod Clark is the lead. He was being recruited by Tennessee so there's probably already a relationship there. -
Eh, he'll probably be looking for another job in a year or two after Diebler gets fired. He probably would've been better off trying to get a job at a school with an established coach.

Dushawn London of 247 says he doesn't expect him to commit until next spring. If that is correct, then IU has some time to make up ground. -
IU gets over $63M from the B1G in revenue money for 2024. A bit under $3M more than last year. The conference brought in more than $920M in revenue. This is more than the SEC, which distributed $52.5M to schools on $840M conference revenue. Both conferences are expected to exceed $1B for 2025. https://swimswam.com/big-ten-reports-928-million-in-revenue-distributes-63-million-to-members-in-2024/

I don't know about Trilly, but Rabby is saying he's being told Wilkins is unlikely for IU. Duke and Maryland are involved and both still have plenty of NIL, I guess. Duke is Duke and Maryland has an assistant coach who played for Wilkins' AAU team. -
Adams, Clark, Johnson, and Norton will be the assistant coaches. Bargen will be a special assistant to the head coach and concentrate on the offense. I take that as kind of an offensive coordinator.

These 2 articles seem to indicate he's thought to be a 2nd round pick. A couple of mocks I looked at had him in the 40s overall. https://www.si.com/nba/draft/newsfeed/nba-teams-should-consider-neoklis-avdalas-in-the-first-round-of-the-2025-nba-draft https://www.si.com/nba/draft/prospect-profiles/nba-draft-scouting-report-greece-neoklis-avdalas Of course, he could make more money next year in the NCAA than as a 2nd rounder in the NBA. A year in the NCAA could also boost his draft stock so he'd make more money from his first contract. He's been invited to the combine so I don't think he decides until after that. -
lol. Don't believe what you read in the Sacramento Bee. Woodson has been an NBA coach since 1996. He was head coach of the Atlanta Hawks (2004-10), New York Knicks (2012-14) and Indiana Pacers (2021-25). He has served as an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers. https://archive.is/SQHvM

If a player is willing to tell his coach and an assistant coach that they need to go to the handshake line, I'm sure there's plenty of leading teammates that we don't see. -
(2026) - F Caleb Gaskins to Miami
go iu bb replied to go iu bb's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Tennessee isn't on Gaskins list, so it doesn't look like he was already recruiting him. https://247sports.com/recruitment/caleb-gaskins-159968/recruitinterests/ For Davion, Kenny Johnson is the lead recruiter and I also don't see UT on his list. I don't see GT on either list. -

That's probably a good way to take it. I feel there isn't really any reason to get one's hopes up at this point in the recruitment, which has just started. When it gets close to a commitment and IU is still in the mix? Maybe then would be a good time. Considering this guy is coming up on his senior season, IU is starting in quite a hole. I imagine in many of these initial recruitments it may be hard to get much traction and there is lots of ground to make up. NIL can help but with that being equal (or close to), then relationships will likely win out. That said, the line you're referring to is really just a fact giving one. -
He's getting paid NIL so they won't want to redshirt him. A player willing to redshirt would probably also have to be willing to take little to no NIL for that season.
