IU Mens/Womens Swimming and Diving
go iu bb replied to LIHoosier's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
After day 2, IU is in 8th place with 87 points. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-2-finals-live-recap/ Peplowski finished 3rd in the 500 free with a great swim that was her PR and a school record. The 200 free relay finished 8th. -
IU Mens/Womens Swimming and Diving
go iu bb replied to LIHoosier's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
The women are tied for 7th after day 1 at the NCAA championship meet, mostly due to 5th in the 800 free relay. The relay had some great swims by the Hoosiers. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-division-i-ncaa-championships-day-1-finals-live-recap/ For day 2, they have 3 swimmers who will be swimming in the evening. Anna Peplowski will be the 2nd seed in the 500 free A final. Kristina Peagle and Ashley Turak will be swimming in the 50 free B final. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-division-1-ncaa-championships-day-2-prelims-live-recap/ -
And the person who was complaining was questioning how much HH was paying him. I think Hoosiers for Good does show how much they pay each player.
-
Cooking takes time. Chill and let Woodson cook.
-
If you donated to their collective while already knowing they're not transparent about how much each player is getting, that's on you. Seems kind of weird to turn around later to complain about an IU player getting paid by them.
-
Some people sure seem to like to complain about how others spend their money.

Transfer Portal w IU Interest
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Why do you think he would be willing to come off the bench? Because he's from Indiana? Because he's moving from a mid-major? Neither one of those are indicators of whether he'd be willing to come off the bench or not. -
Anyone Still Want to ‘Fire Scott Dolson’?
go iu bb replied to go iu bb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
https://www.centralillinoisproud.com/news/local-news/bradleys-athletics-vp-recognized-as-athletic-director-of-the-year/ Congratulations to Chris Reynolds. He's who should've been hired when Dolson was. -
Transfer Portal w IU Interest

I'd be surprised if we play Reneau at the 5. I expect Woodson will land a couple of centers from the portal and another 4 to be Reneau's backup. -

We'll start getting great portal commitments soon. Woodson is just marinating them before he starts cooking. Chill and let him cook. -
Which sport and where did you play?
-
I don't think it matters. What do you think of Arkansas? They contact everyone that enters. They're having a bad year but have been pretty good the past few. It's a numbers game so too many is better than too few. Especially with the number of players IU needs to bring in.

He really needs help with his shot selection and to get past the feeling that he needs to shoot the ball every time he touches it. A good coaching staff should be able to fix those things. His defense needs lots of work too, but again that is something can be learned. A better defensive scheme wouldn't hurt, either.

Me neither. That popped up in my FB feed and I thought it was too funny so I had to share it here.

"part of what makes Woodson such a good coach is his willingness to admit when he’s wrong. He understands the need to evolve." Must be talking about another Mike Woodson.

I disagree. F

Transfer Portal w IU Interest

Even if he's healthy, there's likely a lot of rust to knock off. I doubt he contributes much next season even if he is healthy because of that. Having barely played in 2 seasons takes time to come back to. And he still hasn't played at the college level. -
So 2 starters, 1 guy who played way more than he should have due to having no other options, 1 guy who didn't play as much as he should have but should still play only limited minutes, and 1 guy that hasn't played in 2 years. Why do I not feel optimistic?
-
Like I said, a competent coaching staff.
-
The difference is that Alabama has a competent coaching staff.
-
This is why a lot of us didn't want an IU guy hired in the first place. The only way it's a win is if he wins a lot and there just aren't any ex-players who are good coaches. The best is probably Alford and he is only good at the mid-major level plus he has the Pierce baggage. So the most likely scenario was always the one that we're seeing now. Ex-player comes in and doesn't do well. Fans get angry and turn on him but the school doesn't fire him because he's an ex-player so has friends in high places.

Gunn entering in 3..... 2.... 1....
-
You probably expected off season coaching to help his development.
-
Plus, Galloway and Leal are coming back which will scare off good guards. If Cupps returns, we have no chance of landing a guard. /s

IIRC, the school is required to enter a player's name in the transfer portal within a certain amount of time of that player requesting it. I think 48 hours. So I don't think that the school can really control when it happens other than delaying for the maximum amount of time allowed.
