They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
One of you Negative Nancy's please explain how a lane duck trustee is going to get Dolson fired if Dolson fires Woodson. For Domain to do that he'd likely have at least Whiten on his side. I just don't see it happening so I need details from one of you how Buckner will pull that off. You're giving him waaaay too much credit. Hell, if it really got ugly Dolson could just back off until the summer and then fire Woodson as a f-you to Buckner on July 1. There's nothing Buckner could do to stop that and everyone knows it. It could also "leak" that the university wants to fire Woodson but Buckner is blocking it and all the dirt that entails. Destroy his legacy. I doubt Woodson has as much booster support after this disappointing season is over. -
I'm sure they won't have a problem considering them SEC if they win 1 or 2 more games. For anything that looks favorable to the SEC, Texas will be SEC even if they don't personally think of them as SEC.

I read a site which had them as part of the short article talking about him entering the portal. They said these were CU's official stats. https://coloradobuffaloeswire.usatoday.com/2025/01/02/colorado-loses-offensive-lineman-transfer-portal-kahlil-benson/ -

Texas' misfortune improves IU's chances at winning the NC this year. Ksawery Masiuk won't join Texas this season as previously expected. Too bad, so sad. https://swimswam.com/world-championship-bronze-medalist-ksawery-masiuk-delays-his-longhorn-debut-to-fall-2025/ -

The swim teams had another dual meet against a top tier team. They split with Florida (both teams ranked 4th), with the men winning. They took on Texas earlier this season. Since dual meet records don't really matter, I wish there was more of this is swimming. I'm glad they're doing it this year. Matt King and Rafael Miroslaw are swimming with the men now. No Caspar Corbeau yet. Zalan Sarkany also didn't compete. Owen McDonald won 3 individual events. https://swimswam.com/indiana-men-florida-women-claim-wins-to-kick-off-second-semester-of-ncaa-season/ -

I just read CU bounced him around the line a bit. Right guard, right tackle, and left guard. He got injured and played only 9 games there. It looks like he allowed 2 sacks, 1 QB hit, 3 hurries on 405 snaps. 66.7 PFF grade. -

In the offseason, even his supporters said the floor with this team should be a S16 and anything less would be a failure of a season. -

Excellent. I like the idea of getting transfers from a school like OSU. Especially on the OL. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-picks-up-commitment-from-ohio-state-transfer-ot-zen-michalski/ -
If only basketball teams had someone (or multiple people) in charge who could teach him something like that. Oh well, I guess he'll just have to figure it out himself

That goes into effect next season, right? I think that even though they don't all have to be on scholarship, they do all have to get some profit share or something like that. I thought no more walk-ons. They can also do partial scholarships, it'll no longer be a headcount sport. That the SEC is limiting it to 85 scholarships is probably because to increase the number of football scholarships they'd also need to increase the number of women sport scholarships and/or cut scholarships in other men's sports due to Title IX. -

Assuming Cherry is out next season, the depth chart at QB: F. Mendoza A. Mendoza Bell An experienced backup would be very welcome. -
Tyler Cherry injured his knee while practicing for ND. This must be why the staff went after Bell, just to get another QB for next year. It looks like Cherry will probably have a medical redshirt next year. He'll certainly miss spring and probably all offseason practices. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2025/01/03/indiana-football-qb-tyler-cherry-suffers-knee-injury-questionable-for-fall-iu-hoosiers-center-grove/77438128007/ https://indiana.rivals.com/news/indiana-quarterback-tyler-cherry-injured-in-cfp-prep-questionable-for-2025

WAB = Wins Above Bubble https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/first-college-basketball-net-rankings-released-by-ncaa-tennessee-is-no-1-ahead-of-auburn-gonzaga-duke/#:~:text=This year's NET rankings also, consideration by the selection committee. "This year's NET rankings also includes a metric called "WAB" -- an acronym that stands for Wins Above Bubble -- which is a metric formulated by analytics website BartTorvik.com that now goes on the Team Sheets for consideration by the selection committee." https://www.anonymouseagle.com/2024/7/11/24196421/ncaa-mens-basketball-selection-committee-torvik-wins-above-bubble-wab-criteria "The important part here is where the ratings and rankings on BartTorvik.com are going on the Team Sheets, as are the Wins Above Bubble ratings and rankings. Wins Above Bubble is not all that different than the idea of Wins Above Replacement in baseball. It’s the measurement of how much better you are than a team that would be right on the cut line. How many more wins do you have than a team that would be on the edge of missing the tournament seems like an incredibly valuable measurement." https://adamcwisports.blogspot.com/2017/01/if-ncaa-really-wants-to-replace-rpi-it.html

It appears from that article that Cherry has a knee injury and might miss the whole offseason. Maybe that is why they brought Bell in. -
NCAA is considering 5 years of eligibility. Reading other about it, it looks like they considered giving every sport the football redshirt rule but are looking at going this direction instead.
-
Holy crap. Tough as nails.
-
Suck it, SEC.
-
I hear ya. My dislike of the SEC atm is greater than my dislike of ND. Plus, I wouldn't mind if IU's 2 losses played in the championship game.
-
That Georgia offsides probably cost them a chance to get back into the game. ND is going to milk the clock. I hope ND scores and wins by 20, twice as much as against IU.
-
At least they didn't bail out Georgia with a PI call again.
-
The cutoff for belonging is 140 yards.
-
Bryce Young of ND has 3 penalties so far. He needs to focus.

Some new names from TDH: https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-transfer-portal-tracker-following-the-2024-regular-season/ Tru Edwards, WR, Louisiana Tech Donovan Green, TE, Texas A&M Traylon Ray, WR, West Virginia Bryce Damous, TE, UAB Tru Edwards would be a great pick up. Almost 1k yards this year on 84 catches. 6-3 so he has good height. -

I took it as making too few threes which is very true. This is also coaching.
