A ranked player from Louisville, KY being recruited by UK and Louisville? Ok, moving on. -
If IU were to play and beat an SEC in the playoffs, what would the excuses be? So many are blinded by brand bias. Yes, IU has been bad historically. That doesn't mean this year is a fluke.

It's interesting but unsurprising that people aren't talking about Texas' weak schedule. This Arkansas writer does, though, pointing out what a bunch of hypocrites their own conference is. https://www.si.com/college/arkansas/football/razorbacks-texas-longhorns-indiana-georgia-vanderbilt-sec-big-ten-playoffs

So before the season began, everyone looked at IU and said they brought in a bunch of lower end talent so wouldn't be good this year. Now that they're winning, they "bought" a team. Between the returning players from a 3-9 team last year plus all the Group of 5 transfers coming in, IU was selected at or near the bottom of the B1G entering the season. I remember and I'm sure the coaches and players remember too. Of course, IU wasn't on Tuberville's radar before the season so he just sees a 10-0 team ranked ahead of many teams from his beloved SEC and that they brought in a bunch of transfers. This while ignoring that IU was out spent in NIL by the teams he thinks should be above them. Those are some sour grapes he's eating.
-
They also only play 8 conference games instead of 9 for the B1G and B12. That helps prevent them from beating up on each other as much.

Here's the expected swimswam Practice + Pancakes from IU. https://swimswam.com/indiana-olympians-throw-down-in-sprint-middle-distance-workouts-practice-pancakes/ At the bottom of the page it has some links to when they last did it at IU in 2022. IU also has a good number of swims on this list even though they haven't competed much so far this season. https://swimswam.com/top-three-times-in-each-event-before-midseason-invites-mens-edition/ -
I hope you're right on both of those. It would make it harder to leave out a 1 loss IU team if they don't win Saturday. Let's not forget a few years ago when the B1G went out of its way to make sure OSU got to the conference championship game instead of IU. No reason to think the CFP committee wouldn't do the same thing if given the chance. IU winning at OSU puts them in the playoffs but barring that, other teams losing will help IU.
-
True, but OSU probably overlooked IU so weren't focused. I don't think they do this year. IU can win but they'll have to earn it. It won't be because OSU wasn't mentally in the game. OSU has the edge in talent. IU has the edge in coaching.

Yet an 8 point lead with less than 1:30 left is a comfortable lead that would take a pretty bad collapse to lose the game. Instead, IU did what they were supposed to do which is make defensive stops and hit FT. -
Look at @AH1971 and @steubenhoosier making a bunch of posts to keep this thread going. Excellent job!

It's a bit early in the season to be calling him a bust. He's a career 38% 3-point shooter at a B1G school. So it's not like he's making a jump up in competition. It's a small number of samples so every make or miss makes a huge difference in percentage. 3 of 7, for example, is almost 43%. Would you be complaining if he had that percentage coming into this game? Yes, 2 of 10 now isn't very good but shooters can be streaky. I'm sure he'll find his shot, probably sooner than later and end up at a percentage consistent with his career so far. I would also say that he was talked about as being a good 3-point shooter, not a sharp-shooter. -

Swimswam spent some time at IU recently. They've been slowly posting interviews with some of the swimmers. Here's what they have so far, I'll add more as they are released. https://swimswam.com/josh-matheny-using-ncaa-team-title-as-motivation-for-senior-season-at-indiana/ https://swimswam.com/anna-peplowski-looking-for-back-to-back-big-ten-team-titles-in-last-season-as-a-hoosier/ https://swimswam.com/ncaa-champ-zalan-sarkany-hoping-to-podium-at-home-sc-world-champs-loving-team-at- https://swimswam.com/owen-mcdonald-reaping-benefits-of-training-with-world-class-athletes-at-asu-and-now-at-iu/ indiana/https://swimswam.com/us-olympian-matt-king-on-training-at-indiana-im-kinda-cookin-right-now/ https://swimswam.com/watch-matt-king-swims-19-2-50-free-in-a-brief-at-end-of-practice/ -
Even when we were winning, I wasn't buying what Allen was selling. No fans at the games and the schedule was even weaker than this year but mainly it was that IU still made tons o mistakes so didn't seem all that well coached.

This new contract is great for many reasons. It keeps C^3 at IU for the foreseeable future. The guy has shown he's a winner. It shows IU is finally serious about football. This helps with: recruiting hiring assistant coaches when the current ones inevitably leave to become HC themselves hiring C^3's replacement when the time comes this, plus winning, will further change the perception about IU football

Nah, it was pretty boring really. Indeed. C^3 getting it done in recruiting. -
Living in Phoenix, I don't even count them as Mexican food. Mexican inspired, maybe. If I want Mexican fast food, there are a bunch of better places around here.

The schedule looked much tougher last year than it turned out to be. Michigan and Washington were both top 5/10 teams all season and played for the national championship. Then both got new coaches. A road game at UCLA, a team which won 7 games plus their bowl game last year. (They are playing better and may end up in a bowl game.) A Nebraska team many thought would be improved. They are, just not as much as it initially appeared. Road game at OSU. This one still holds up as a tough game. So I can see why there was that thought that the schedule would be much tougher this year than it turned out to be. I personally had (still don't) no problem dropping the UL game for a sure win. I've said for a long time that if IU has 3 non-con wins, they just need 3 B1G wins to get to a bowl game.
-
The angry person I'm referring to is a Woodson defender.
-
The schedule will look better by then. OSU will give it a big bump. The UCLA win is starting to look better.
-
Quite the angry individual.

(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)
go iu bb replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I think it is expected that he will have a chance to compete for the starting QB position. -
To be fair, if they were in a conference they would probably lose a few games and not win the conference championship anyways. This way makes raking up wins to get into the CFP in the first place more likely.

IUFB vs Michigan - Saturday, 11.09.24 @ 3:30 on CBS-TV
go iu bb replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yeah, he's refusing to believe IU is for real this year. Blinded by the brand bias. I doubt he would have done better against IU this year than they did. The defense and offense are both better for IU than when was in college. It's not as though they won because of him. From his wikipedia page: After Speight was sidelined with an unspecified shoulder injury, O'Korn started and led the team to a 20–10 victory over Indiana on November 19. O'Korn posted 7 completions in 16 attempts for a total of 59 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. The performance represented the lowest passing yardage total for Michigan since John Navarre posted 58 in a November 17, 2001, victory for the 2001 Wolverines against Wisconsin.[19][20]
