Sad news. He was the coach at IU for about half of my life. I vaguely remember the '87 championship and my favorite IU teams are still the ones of the early '90s. I'm glad he decided to let his grievances with IU go and has been around the program for the past few years. He wasn't perfect but he was a great coach. RIP

It wasn't clear from the tweet whether IU was actually in contact with him or if it was speculation that IU might get involved since they missed on Fland. To me it seemed more of the latter.

So he's either a dead eye shooter (best ever evaluated by one person) or just a serviceable shooter who is just good enough to keep defenders honest. That's quite a bit of disagreement on his shooting prowess. The skeptic in me says the latter is probably closer to the truth since the former comes off as hyperbolic, especially when considering the size disadvantage he'll have at the college level. Of course, Yogi turned into a very good shooter so I may be wrong.

IU is so bad that even struggling but winning against them is almost as bad as a loss. PSU will be dropping out of the top 10.

He's smaller than Woodson seems to go for. Unless he's lightning quick, I'd be surprised if IU goes after him instead of waiting for the spring and looking for a PG among the portal and decommits.

I thought exhibition games against other D1 schools had to be secret scrimmages without the public or media and certainly not on TV.

Not a huge drop off from TJD to Ware at the 5? At this point, I can't agree with that. Ware compared favorably to TJD as far as rim protection, but other than that TJD was much better than anything Ware has shown. There's a reason TJD was a serious content for POY, or would've been if the voters hadn't already made up their minds by the end of December that it was Edey. At this time, the bench looks weaker than last year.

I believe that had now changed. I think they now have unlimited OV per year but can only OV any school once ever. So if he doesn't reclassify, IU wouldn't be able to get another OV from him.

On top of why it would be a bad idea as mentioned above, it wouldn't really be IU's version of Coach Prime anyways. He's not as well known or flamboyant as Sanders and Sanders played at Florida State, not Colorado. Sanders was also a head coach at Jackson State for a few years before heading to Colorado. I see no way it would be similar to the hiring of Deion Sanders. Not even a poor man's version. It would be nothing like that. It would just be a bad idea.
