I learned today that Dane previously was an assistant for two years at IU under Mike Davis prior to taking the IPFW job. Weird.

Huge. Not only did we just get a great assistant, but we stole one from Izzo and Michigan state. It's a double win. Love it.

The only Assistant that he brought from Dayton was Ostrom which is his right hand man(he also brought Bill Comar, but he was not an assistant coach). Otherwise he had 4 guys who largely seemed to be considered excellent hires(especially Schilling and Hunter) none of whom had coached with him at Dayton: -Bruiser Flint -Ed Schilling -Mike Roberts -Kenya Hunter I understand that the cool thing to do is to hate on Archie these days, but at least use facts when you do(there are plenty to use).

I wouldn’t count on it. Baylor is legit. I think it’ll be a great game and I would put it as a total toss up.

Excited TJD is coming back. Regardless of any incoming transfers, we weren’t gonna get anyone nearly as impactful as him. It really does two big things: 1. Speeds up the timeline for being very good. Not saying it will or won’t, but this can be a tournament team next year-no doubt. 2. Gives Woodson the ability to showcase his talent in player development. If TJD comes back next year with a mid range/outside shot it will give him tangible results in the college game to tout during recruiting. That’s a huge opportunity that can’t be understated.

Really don’t wanna lose Franklin or Geronimo. I really think the nucleus we had last year + Stewart and a healthy Brunk should easily be a tournament team. No reason it shouldn’t especially if everyone buys what CMW is selling.

The rumor states that it would be an on-campus position. That, to me, says not an assistant job. Instead it would likely be something similar to what Matta is doing. Just another good basketball mind around the program.

It's because it's not calculating each vote as a yes or no, it's calculating it versus the other options. The poll is flawed, not the data.

Not sure why anyone could see this as a bad thing. Do you really think that Coach Woodson, a RMK acolyte, is going to run a dirty program? Zero chance. If this isn't taking one of the assistant spots, I'm not sure why we wouldn't want another great basketball mind to be around the program. Not that he necessarily needs it, but Matta and Brown give Woodson immediately credibility with anyone who knows anything about basketball.

Thad Matta is the cleanest of clean when it comes to recruiting. If WWW is shady, I can't see him coexisting with Matta at IU together.

If for nothing else the fan base should galvanize over their hate for Goodman. Dude is such a tool.

I’ll admit I’m starting to get a little bit of excited about this after the initial disappointment. I think the addition of Matta is humongous and I think if he gets a good staff this could be a good thing. obviously it’s impossible to speculate about this, but a tournament bid next season would be huge and go along way towards galvanizing the fan base again.

The longer I think, I guess the more I’m talking myself into it if he can get a really good staff. Fife/Lewis+Hunter(which could help with our current rosters decisions to stay or go)+someone else. Idk. Ultimately the proof will be in the pudding. I’ll give him my support.

At this point since we’re going down this road we might as well just hire all former players as assistants... Lewis, Fife, Bracey Wright, Bobby Cappobianco, Langford, whoever.

Now this is encouraging....

At least 4 years from now we can tell all the alumni who want a former player to shove it.

So this means we didn’t even have sit downs with Musselman, Drew, etc. I’ll root like hell for him, and I really hope he succeeds, but damn if this isn’t disappointing.
