  1. Lol. Where have you been the last 10 days?
  2. I don’t understand the flip flopping on Dolson that many in our fan base have done in literally just a few days. He went from the GOAT and everyone apologizing for knocking his hiring to now just assuming he’s gonna give the job to some schlub who doesn’t deserve the job. The fact that we have ZERO information about Dolson talking to Beard is very telling to me. Maybe I’m wrong, but it just seems like we would’ve heard “he tried but Beard wasn’t interested in moving” or something similar. Idk.... but if I’m right I’ll start a gofundme for my clairvoyance.
  3. Which, if you think about it, makes sense. Can't exactly have the AD and a prospective coach riding around on a golf cart campus tour prior to the deal being done. Bloomington is small enough and fans are crazy enough that if a prospective coach was in town prior to signing, someone would find out. Which is why I was glad that Beard got placed in Bloomington for his tournament games... Not saying that anything happened while his team was still active in the tournament, but hey, you never know.
  4. This is specifically Jeff Goodman anytime he hears something positive might happen with IU
  5. Yeah. I understand everyone's frustration around here. We swung and missed on perhaps the one candidate that would unite the fanbase and now it feels like our wheels our spinning. But I don't think the wheels are really just spinning. I think Dolson is running a really quiet, leak free hiring process that is creating a void of information. This void is being filled by speculation and rumors. I mean in just like the last 24 hours its been stated that Thad Matta was offered the job but couldn't pass a physical, Woodson is the leading candidate, etc etc. Everyone needs to just chill out and let SD do his thing. He has never burned us before-we need to at least give him a chance with this one before we automatically assume the world is crumbling. (This post not really directed at you, kind of just the board in general).
  6. I just don't understand these IU names. It's been said a bazillion times, but if he was an alumnus from another university, would we really want him to come coach here? The answer is a resounding NO. Nothing against Calbert or any other former player, but there is no way Scott Dolson is hiring someone with a resume like this just because of a tie to the university.
  7. If you erased Porter Moser's first stint in coaching I think that he probably would be the one. I think he is probably a really good coach that is highly dependent on the right fit(which is why I would not want him at IU).
  8. I refuse to believe any of the smoke about Woodson. Dolson is not going from throwing $7 million at Stevens to settling for an NBA assistant with a mediocre resume. Just ain’t happening.
  9. Context doesn't change the overall record or lack of recruiting experience, or experience coaching college ball in general.
  10. No, he's really not an intriguing choice. Coached over 600 games in the NBA and won well under 50%. Hard pass, no thanks. Next.
  11. Musselman does seem to rely heavily on transfers which scares me. And I agree, he doesn’t seem like a long term solution... but maybe you get 2-3 really good teams out of him before he leaves. I’m definitely partial to Beard.
  12. IU would be lucky to get Chris Beard. I hope Dolson stops him before he gets to the airport.
  13. I’m not buying any of the “Beard doesn’t want to move away from family rumors” until after the tournament is over. Very possible Dolson and Beard haven’t even formally sat down yet.
  14. Which is why I think Beard is the guy. He’s the most logical choice outside of Stevens and there has been too little smoke surrounding his name. Kind of like when your toddlers are silent for 5 minutes in the other room you know something momentous is happening.
  15. I’d bet he takes a year off.
  16. I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again-there is no way Scott Dolson is actually going from offering Brad Stevens 7+ million dollars a year to offering Mike Woodson the job. Mike has a 46% winning percentage in over 600 games as a head coach in the NBA. If he wasn’t an IU guy he wouldn’t even be a blip on our radar. There is no way Dolson can be that dumb. He just can’t be. If the job is going to an IU guy it has to be Fife with a strong staff of assistants.
  17. 46% winning percentage in over 600 games coaching in the NBA. He's obviously an IU guy and played/coached in the NBA, but other than that there is little to desire in his resume. Same question people ask about Fife, "If this guy had no connection to IU would he be a realistic candidate?" The answer is a resounding and firm NO. I don't buy it. Scott Dolson is not going from throwing $7 million a year to Brad Stevens to hiring a failed NBA coach just simply because he has IU ties.
  18. 11th ranked class in 2020 and a 1 player class in 2021 which is obviously lower ranked. I don't think recruiting would be an issue. Hell, he beat Archie for Jahmius Ramsey a couple years ago.
  19. I understand that Kenpom has its limitations, but Beard's team's rankings on both sides of the ball have been really impressive and speak to what @Demo is saying about him being an elite defensive coach: 2021: Offense-31 Defense-18 2020: Offense-47 Defense-9 2019: Offense-25 Defense-1 2018: Offense-50 Defense-4
  20. He was very easy to dislike, but I think they woulda been worse with him and Eastern this year... guess it doesn’t matter, first round exit regardless.
  21. Yeah, but it’s a tough time right now in general. We’re sitting at home during the tournament and we just seemingly got left at the mantle by our bride to be... I think once the new guy gets named the majority of the fan base will get excited again, assuming it’s a good hire.
  22. It actually can be much worse then it has been. This is a bad idea.
  23. If I were a betting man I’d put money down Beard is announced within 72 hours of TT being eliminated. I highly doubt Dolson and company have only been talking to Stevens over the past month. The way Beard spoke about Assembly Hall, the connection to Knight, and his “I don’t talk about other jobs” answer when asked about IU I think would have all been considered serious smoke had we not been chasing Brad so feverishly. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my gut.
  24. I'm not sure I understand all the hand wringing around this place. Sure, we didn't get the biggest fish.... but if Dolson was about to pay $7 million a year to Brad Stevens, I'm willing to bet he's going to get someone really good. Smart money would be on Beard.
