  1. I guess the one thing that still doesn't make any sense with any of this is the family angle. It was reported that a driving factor in Brad's decision making process was his wife's desire to come home. Did that just disappear because Ainge talked smooth and upped his salary a few million? Seems odd. I don't know.
  2. Beard. No other candidate comes close for me.
  3. Yeah, I’m all for persistence but at a certain point you just have to cut ties and go get someone who wants the job. This is Indiana basketball. Brad will continue to lose in the NBA and eventually look to leave but by then his “dream job” will hopefully be occupied by someone kicking @$$ for the next 20 years.
  4. I could care less what we pay him if he wins.
  5. Personally I could care less about style. I care about winning. Chris Beard's style hasn't seemed to matter to recruits.. He pulled the 11th ranked class last year. Even beat Archie for a recruit in Jahmius Ramsey
  6. I'll say this. If Brad actually used all this hoopla to get himself a big raise in Boston, then I can honestly say that I am glad that we didn't get him. Good riddance. Give me someone who WANTS to build on the legacy here, not just use us for more money. Get lost.
  7. Sure.. it's possible he is pulling a Saban. But from what we know about BS, it certainly seems unlikely that he would answer that strongly against the question and then go back on his word shortly later. I mean he called himself a Masshole and bragged about rooting for the Patriots. I think its obvious there was a lot of smoke and that he was considering it, but it's not unreasonable to lose hope after that.
  8. There are denials like he gave the other day, and then there is what was just published, which is more clear and vehement then anything previously. Maybe he pulls a Saban? But idk. To be honest, if this is true and Brad doesn't want the job after being offered $7 million a year to come home then screw it... go get someone who actually WANTS the job.
  9. Lets get it poppin! Chris Beard won more tournament games in one day while coaching in Bloomington than Archie ever did!
  10. Alright... everyone to the Beard thread!
  11. Washington tried to play hero ball for OSU in OT and it cost them the game. He must have shot 5 or 6 times in OT alone and he wasn't hitting...
  12. I think I'm just going to stop paying attention to this for a while. "A watched pot never boils".
  13. I can not envision a scenario in which BS agrees to come coach at IU and then continues to coach for the Celtics for the remainder of the year. It just seems entirely implausible. People say he's lost the team now? Imagine if he tried to continue coaching them under these rumors for the next 3 months. Just my opinion, but I don't see it.
  14. Goodman just making this worse on himself.
  15. Maybe the rumored team meeting was at 3:00pm and we should hear something momentarily? Trying to type it into reality.
  16. Not sure if you were kidding or not. Lol. Evaluating a coach on one half of basketball is ridiculous.
  17. I would imagine the only person Brad would be talking to about this would be Ainge.. so I'd be unsuprised that few others in the organization might know.
  18. Not gonna be a popular take, and I have zero inside information, but I think it’s gonna be Beard. I think the Stevens smoke is real, but I think ultimately he decides to stay in the NBA. I think Beard takes the job in a heartbeat. Hope the fan base can still support him despite their disappointment if I am correct.
  19. That's bad karma! Gotta wait til its official!
  20. Summary: -Brad Stephens to IU is still a thing -Contract between Celtics and Brad is not an issue -There's two types of people in Boston: People from Boston and people from elsewhere. Outsiders will never be insiders(fascinating stuff here, really) -Estimates 30% chance Brad is the coach at IU by October So basically nothing new or interesting.
  21. Fascinating. If everyone wasn't so hot under the collar about Stevens at the moment this would be huge. And maybe it is! He could have easily said no. I'd be curious what his responses have been to questions about other job openings in the past.
  22. I wish I could find it, but it was somewhere in the 1200+ pages of the other thread. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that it was on a podcast that was done relatively recently when he was asked directly if he had any interest in a lead assistant job similar to what Martelli is doing for Howard at Michigan and he said no.
  23. I find it incredibly unlikely that Beilein would run things for a few months just so that Brad could take over. We already have an interim staff in place, and Beilein is on record saying he has no interest in being an Assistant Coach like Martelli, and I can't imagine he would just come for a few months prior to leaving.
