  9. Oooohh Jaybob, you are hot!
  10. Agree, but while I may be wrong here - I think many of the BS posts at this point are just in fun
  11. For a new twist. Scrolling through the thread titles on my phone I saw this one and read it as: Scott Dolson Dead lol, glad he’s still kicking
  12. Yep and just a slap on the wrist, classic ncaa action
  13. Guess Iowa isn’t a high major lol
  14. During and after “Samsongate” the bball programs academic rating and history was made public, it was really bad, it wasn’t just one semester. I haven’t looked, but doubt it’s still up on the web. We’re going pretty fsr afield of the topic so I’ll call it a day here, and again I love Sampson’s coaching, just don’t think he would’ve worked out anyway at thst time at IU — I’d bet we agree if there was any chance IU could get him now it would be fantastic
  15. Where did I pretend to be on a “moral high ground?” If you’re going to quote me quote what I actually said above, e.g., I’m not some “academic hawk” and the proper role of the program’s compliance group is to work within the grey while advising the bball program not playing gotcha, etc. The “multiple arrests” you’re referring to are what and whom? You’re glossing over and exaggerating to try to mske it look like what the program was under Sampson continued, completely misleading, and why try to go there?
  16. I’d like to see the academic history, you have a site that shows this? Just not how I remember it
  17. No you didn’t, that’s just not accurate, and the player hit that you’re referring to? They were clowning around stupidly not doing drugs. There were players suspended for games under Sampson, but that’s not really the point— he was largely ignoring the mess within the program, you can read up on the total mess Crean inherited
  18. The ncaa is a joke for sure — but for us kinda older guys, RMK’s players graduated, and generally had B averages, he ran the program strictly. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some kind of academic hawk, but then you have a school like UNC with a history of a fake academic program- that’s complete crap. A program should be working the line of ncaa rules, working with the bball program to advise it in the grey but not against the program as some kind of gotcha group, buy also not deliberately faking academics and ignoring the rules.
  19. I don’t remember it that way, it took Crean some time to build the academic record back up, and it wss the blatant drug culture that turned off Cody’s older brother. I’d have to see the academic history but that’s not how I remember it and I was following the program then
  20. And the very next year Sampson’s violations were no longer ncaa violations. He had pissed off the ncaa when he left okla while it was under investigation for his “sins”…. The real underlying problem with Sampson though was his disregard of academics (several players were failing) and the drug culture that surrounded his program. He’s a Hell of a coach but he wouldn’t have ended up being right for IU anyway (I say that while ducking, his x’s and o’s are outstanding). Hard to know what’s going on behind the scenes here in Houston, UH doesn’t have the same academic culture in its sports programs, and he may run his program differently now after all this time and the experience of a 5-year show cause and assistant coaching in the League.
