This quote also kind of looks like some UH teams Sampson has built in building the UH program into one of the best in D1. Said it before, but I like what I'm seeing from DeVries in his recruiting and commitments so far.

I read the Daily Hoosier article Old F posted, but do you guys think our starting lineup is on the current roster of 12 or so, and if so, who?

Starting point here is the players he's bringing in, the system/style of play we can expect, and DeVries' track record. Love this quote from Deuce: “Just being able to create for others and still do what I’m capable of doing with the shooting. And being able to play fast, that’s kind of what he wants to implement with the offense is to play faster and get out and go. And I feel like that’s when I’m at my best and I feel like they’ve seen that just from watching me at Drexel. When I play fast, that’s when I’m playing my best basketball and that’s kind of what they want to do.” And he talks about how he is first and foremost a competitor. Like the other dudes brought in, kid's a tough player. DeVries has already brought in a group of veteran, skilled players who create / assist at a high level, shoot at a high percentage on high volume, rebound well and play fast - leading to a transition get out and go game. We were once call the 'Hurryin' Hoosiers'. It's been a minute. I don't care about the 'budget,' that doesn't give me any expectation. What I care about is the type of players -- level of experience, shooting, creating, toughness, quickness/athleticism and overall talent -- and the system he's building. I see a tourney team here. I agree a tournament berth should be expected -- based on what we see in the players brought in and system being built and DeVries' track record. Really, no reason to expect otherwise. That said if he builds the right foundation and we play well and hard but somehow miss the tourney, I'll be disappointed but unless there's Woodson-like failures, that won't affect my long-term outlook. From everything I've seen so far, I believe DeVries is the right guy to get IU back to the level we all want.

With Deuce's addition the level and depth of shooting, as well as assists/on-ball play, keeps growing. Great to see. We're going to spread the floor again -- FINALLY -- IU used to be known for shooting, getting back to the brand of basketball we (well many of us) grew up with.

And as to hype, Woodson’s portal class got lots of hype… whoopee. How’d that turn out? the players DeVries has already brought in are clearly demonstrated good players and they fit his system and player type and they complement each other’s games, a focus on SHOOTING- perimeter play with playmaking and assists, rebounding with transition, and toughness. We have a ball club that I’m betting is already heads above this past season’s group (though it was undercut by lazy and incompetent Mike), and it’s still being built. I’m really happy with the way things are looking so far

Glover was actually top 50 by some - 4 star recruit, strong with a solid frame, tough and known as a good shooter. Wrist injury ended his relatively short season. KU, Gonzaga etc have reached out. Can’t just look at his stats and think that’s all there is, not the case at all

I wonder about the big thing. We’re seeing an athletic, quick, rebounding big guard -wing offense put together with top 20 assist guys. Yes it’s the B1G but do we actually need a traditional rum protector? Not so sure. Really interested to see where DeVries goes with the remaining picks - starting 5 are already on the team

Lol though he starts out with his decision for IU over MSU as based on the coaching staffs— Mike Woodson knowing what he’s doing and the staff he surrounded himself with. Oh Dear Lord lol

Honestly as much as he's bashed here, I'd bet $1000 he does well at A&M. Woodson's complete lack of any perimeter schemes killed his play here, the guy's a good player, he'll do well.

We are quickly becoming an athletic and versatile shooting team. A return to really enjoyable good basketball, so looking forward to it
