Kel’el Ware 2nd team all rookie
HoosierHoopster replied to rayl456's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah Ware was always the better pro prospect, Edey’s game was as a dominant traditional college big, doesn’t translate well to the League. Ware’s game should continue to grow, bigtime upside. Edey may carve out a role player role. -

If IU - Moren want to compete with deep tourney runs and against the elite teams they’re going to have to get bigger, more athletic— and with ranked - proven players. We have a good core and I am 100% a Moren believer, she built the women’s program with consistent 20-win seasons and tourney runs and is clearly a strong x’s and o’s coach, but bigger, more athletic teams with well-ranked players are our kryptonite, and NIL is here to stay, if you want to bring in and keep the better players you have to have the NIL bank to do so. -
Yeah, a “quarter century”…

T Bryant’s 3’s were fun — Gotta like 2 well-liked former Hoosiers both playing well, against each other in a Conference Finals and in Indiana— OG had a strong game himself.

P’s heading to the Finals — OKC is going to be really tough, but the P’s have played so well as the underdog, should be a fun series!

This is what I’m seeing. It’s not like we stopped recruiting, it’s more that we missed. NIL apparently not high enough, etc. Moren talked openly about needing to get more athletic and bigger. Looking forward to that developing -

Nick Dorn to Indiana from Elon
HoosierHoopster replied to IU Prof's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
The transition- get out and run game DeVries wants to run should be perfect for Dorn’s game -
The SGA clips are all over social media, really funny but also such a shame. He blatantly flops all over the place even with literally no contact, and the refs keep buying it. What annoys me most about it with him is that he’s an outstanding player, but he ruins it with his ridiculous flopping to get to the line. Harden, to me, largely started it — not that flopping hadn’t been around before him, but he made it a mainstay of his “game.”

Just my opinion, but what you call roster deficiencies can also be tied directly to who was coaching -- our coaching staff. Take our roster last year and have it coached by a good (or even decent) coach running a modern offense, with actions and schemes for outside shooting, etc., and I am 100% confident we would've been well in the tourney and had a much better record, Just saying roster deficiencies doesn't account for that, and overstates the perceived deficiencies.' Now how well DeVries and the new (better all around) staff can do with this roster obviously remains to be seen, but, without even seeing a practice let alone a game, I'm also 100% sure we'll see better and much more diverse offensive sets. We've got guys with demonstrated shooting etc. I'm personally optimistic we'll make the tourney and generally enjoy watching the team play -- and it's been a long time since I've enjoyed watching IU ball, under Woodson and CAM. I have no expectation of competing for the conference in year 1 and don't think there should be one. I want to enjoy year 1, and then expect bigger things in year 2. -
Brunson’s team will lose Stu, he doesn’t make players around him better, he plays to score as much for himself as he can, he’s a one way player who doesn’t defend well, but yes he scores a lot (in a League that now does everything it can to increase scoring — how many 50-plus scoring games by how many different players have there been in the last 2 seasons?? ) it’s pathetic. It’s ruining the game. People are getting 50-plus games, generally high scoring games all over the place now because of how the game is now ruled and officiated to increase scoring. It’s easy to score now, period. Give me the two-way players, the elite point guards, the guys who make others better not just themselves, any day and every day. Not a fan of Brunson, but Haliburton can wave bye to him soon so it’s all good :)

Stu my friend it’s not a conspiracy theory, I’m a long-time NBA guy and the disparity is patently obvious and money talks. You like Brunson? I couldn’t like him less. Mr volume shooting let me shoot all the time. I’d take many players over him 10 times out of 10, on the knicks starting with OG. And Haliburton 100x over Brunson.
-
Money. The League wants the Knicks in the finals, and yes, it’s ridiculous
-
No one (I think) has at least 32 points, 15 assists, 10 boards and 4 steals (with 0 TO’s). Haven’t checked that game by Davis, that was special as well. However you want to dissect it, regardless, it’s absolutely an historic game. And that’s with the refs (ahem, the League), trying to get the Knicks to the finals. How many players fouled out? What was the FT disparity? What a joke. The Knicks of course are the big market money maker, I’m sorry, it’s damn clear the League is money driven and that translates on the floor - despite that, unfavored in most of these games, the P’s keep winning. Btw, the players voted Haliburton as the Most Overrated Player. It’s beautiful how he’s slapping all of them in the face. Love how he’s turning into the next Reggie — face of the P’s for years to come

They won’t lose G4
-
P’s are so enjoyable to watch right now. And the coaching isn’t getting enough pub. Carlisle has them ready every game, every game 2 when other team’s would let down after the game 1 road w. Knicks are going to fight for that G3, these games have been cliose : come down to the 4th, hoping the P’s can get that 3 up and throw the Knicks in the trash can. They should at least go 3-1 but would be ecstatic to see them stomp the Knicks down

Jasai Miles is a Hoosier!!!!!

The improvement across the board for him from frosh to soph on higher volume (for shooting) is encouraging— strong rebounder and a scorer all with work ethic. -

Isn’t it a bit early to have this kind of worry? Crean’s results coming into IU did not reflect a strong basketball mind and record of developing teams and winning. He rode Wade. He looked decent. DeVries had a pretty long track record of developing programs into good teams and a strong basketball mind. Who knows if that will translate into teams that can contend for FF’s and championships, but fear? I don’t have any fear at this point, I’m pretty stoked to see what DeVries can do. Hell, on Crean, he did have us competing at the championship level he just didn’t have the bball mind to get to the very top or consistency in recruiting and he lost the HS coaches. No reason to fear that at this point, not a single game even played. You guys walk around with little black clouds over your heads? Lol grab a little optimism it’s good for the soul -
