  1. I am a multi- millionaire just trying to speak it into existence
  2. Don't worry he's contrite -- here's his response (I may have filled in a few comments); "I regret that any of my unintentional [cough cough] actions or failures to follow University guidelines [laughable as they may be] have brought unnecessary attention to our outstanding [uh, cough cough] athletics programs and University," Mack said in a statement. "I understand that I could have handled matters differently[, I mean, you know, since I kinda skated on my involvement in the whole recruiting video thingy and having my grad assists practice with the team and all,] and therefore I accept this suspension [and you know, since it only involves non-conference games which even include 2 in the Bahamas! Haha, who really cares? Oh wait, did I say that out loud?]. While it will kill me to be away from our basketball family in November, I will do everything possible to set them up for success before and after my time away, and I am fully confident that our coaches, staff and student-athletes will rise to the occasion. [But you know what really ticks me off? That dude, Guadio, only gets a $10K fine, but I gotta forfeit $221K in comp? F that!"
  3. The guys who questioned his ability to recruit completely whiffed on his NBA pedigree and all that goes with it.
  4. Rankings are good and all, but seeing Tom Pritchard ahead of Vic... Lol, can only take rankings so far
  5. siap, from Bossi: (hard not to get excited here, another strong 2-way player) A physical guard who is capable of playing all three positions on the perimeter, Hood-Schifino is among the best two way players in the country. He makes winning plays as either a scorer or distributor when he has the ball in his hands and on the defensive end his toughness and high basketball IQ allow him to be one of the very best perimeter defenders in the class of 2022.
  6. Woodson is killing it. Welcome aboard Jalen!
  7. Is that in response to Jerry Meyer's annual last minute pick? Lol
  8. First, Coach Adragna is excellent. His reviews are dead on often with in depth breakdowns of the sets and how they were executed (or not). Second, my favorite line here "and offensive intuition that Woodson has taught." Hallelujah!
  9. This is disappointing to me. Coach has been referring to him as young, not questioning, but this kid has so much talent, hope to see hum grow quickly this year
  10. Geronimo is killing it on the glass. On a normal team this kind of looks like what Vic’s more natural progression would’ve looked like. Geronimo has tons of potential, but he’s not having to be pushed into an early offensive role.
  11. Would’ve been surprised, Leal on concussion protocol, takes time
  12. I was actually responsible for the win but i guess i can share some of the credit.
  13. “the excitement, the joy of playing basketball was at a whole different level.” TJD This says a whole lot in one sentence.
  14. 2-way stud aggressive scoring frosh who comes out in his first college game, against professional players and kills it? super high on this kid, really looking forward to watching him take off
  15. ITH will be there, would think their site will have breakdowns and scores
  16. Agree. And his comments from the article WoodenshoemanHoosierfan posted are pretty telling: "Just being able to be confident, having the open floor, being able to play my game, really just show my talents like I did earlier in my career," Phinisee said. 14COMMENTS And there seems little doubt with the "why" of his improved play. "New coaching staff and everything, new offense, just instilled the confidence for me, helped me to continue to be a leader, continue to get better each day."
  17. It sucks for him. In fairness to him, or his bumbling advisors, he didn't anticipate another serious leg injury that would sideline him for such extended time. His stock would still be great if he didn't go through more injuries, and in that regard he's kind of snake bitten.
  18. Vic staying with the Heat on a 1-year minimum deal. Had previously turned down that $45M extension with the Rockets... https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/31958256/victor-oladipo-agrees-stay-miami-heat-1-year-deal-source-says
  19. With you, I think he's going to be a beast this season
  20. I hate Wisconsin, can’t stand that program or its fans — but gotta agree, the locker room is off limits, that’s the team’s place and all locker room talk should stay there (barring illegality or something like that)
  21. I guess you can take it up with the Supremes? :)
  22. Mods, not sure if there's a thread up somewhere on this, merge if needed -- but a pretty big ruling today out of the Supreme Court. It's a fairly narrow ruling as written (a unanimous ruling), but has potentially major impact. This is the case in which college athletes have maintained that NCAA Rules (limiting educational benefits for college players as part of their schollys, Div. 1 basketball and football, capping scholarships at the cost of attending) effectively act as a restraint of competition, violating antitrust laws. The NCAA essentially countered that its Rules were largely exempt from the antitrust laws, because they're directed at maintaining amateurism in college athletics. The NCAA sought immunity from antitrust laws. the Rules at issue limited education-related benefits, e.g., computers, that colleges offer to student athletes. The Court (unanimously) held that the NCAA Rules are not reasonably necessary to distinguish between college and professional sports. The Court found the suit involved admitted horizontal price fixing in a market in which the defendants exercise monopoly control. The decision does not directly address 'name, image and likeness' rules, but it does likely push the NCAA to work with Congress going forward in addressing compensation to college athletes. Now, the NCAA cannot bar a school from adding in extra education-related benefits to Div 1 bball and football players, though the individual conferences apparently still can. One of the quotes: “Nowhere else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers a fair market rate on the theory that their product is defined by not paying their workers a fair market rate,” Justice Kavanaugh wrote. “And under ordinary principles of antitrust law, it is not evident why college sports should be any different. The N.C.A.A. is not above the law.” -- edit, just noticed this in the college bball thread.
  23. Right there with you, 54, was there for '76, '81 and '87, the last as a junior (and maybe I know something about that fish still missing from Showalter Fountain... that was a fun night ... :) There's a lot about IU's tradition I'm big on, but the jersey thing is just one thing and times have changed, can absolutely be all about IU and still want your name on the back, nothing wrong with that at all
  24. That's awesome Paulie, what a great father's day gift
