  1. Just tell her you’re the man of the house and you’ll be watching / attending any IU game you want :) hey, couch sleeping can be nice
  2. Honestly not getting the handwringing. This is just a secret scrimmage, it’s closed so coaches can work on things without cameras, fans etc. That’s the point of a secret scrimmage, it’s, at least usually, not a free flowing regular game / scrimmage. And regardless, if it was actually played like a regular game and it’s necessary for some reason to make a secret scrimmage some kind of measuring stick on our shooting or progress, we shot fine and beat a solid team, and this is after sweeping the games in the bahamas, a pro team. Lol it’s a secret scrimmage!
  3. The way these usually work is that there are multiple stoppages throughout for the coaches to walk players through positioning, mistakes, sets, etc. No one has any inside info on how this secret scrimmage is going to be run, it’s a “secret” lol.
  4. I don't think it's an unfair assessment, that's not the same as my saying I can't see this team finishing in the bottom 5. And I can't. I would be really surprised if we finish in the bottom 5 -- this is clearly not the same team as last season, with the transfers, and it's coached by a very different (in my view, exceptionally better) coach, with an exceptional, new and experienced staff. Do we know where the team will finish? Of course not. But yeah, I can't see them finishing in the bottom 5. That would be more than a disappointment, it would be a real failure, with this team, and this coaching staff.
  5. I can't see this team (barring key injuries) finishing in the bottom 5, but it's definitely accurate to say we have a wide range of possibilities and things are fairly unknown right now.
  6. Who said DeVonte needed the shot to be open to shoot? :)
  7. Appreciated. I wasn’t talking midrange though generally. To be a legit NBA prospect, he needs to show consistent shooting and that includes an outside shot. The proverbial big is largely dead in the NBA, you need to move more like a wing and you need to be able to step outside and knock down shots. Trayce helps us in many ways, he’s a clearly tremendous All American level player. But there’s a reason he and Woodson are talking about him stepping outside and shooting — just as Juwan did (with mixed success). And i love Juwan as a player, and he did work on his outside shot and he dud make an NBA team. For what it’s worth I’m maybe more optimistic on TJD’s ability to show an outside shot than some. He’s got a good stroke. He was clearly limited by CAM and that, uh, “offense.” I think we’ll see a decent level of shooting level from him this year side note, on my phone deliberately ignorring a meeting i’m in, sorry if what I’ve posted is already covered in the thread
  8. And it's all circular really -- we win and we will land the top IN recruits, that fit what Woodson and staff are looking for. So it's really what you prioritize -- win, along with building the program with the right kind of players to wear the cream and crimson (which Woodson is clearly doing right now), with the best players we can bring in from wherever, and then we become the destination school, again, for the top IN prospects, and we balance the team with IN players who Woodson and staff recruit -- not just because they're IN kids, because they fit the team staff is building now and for the future.
  9. Very high on Geronimo, his upside is way up there and he can shoot, we'll be seeing that this season.
  10. Yes and Woodson pointed that out when they had their meeting that lead to Trayce coming back. I think we'll be seeing that as well --
  11. Very much agree on the raw talent comment. He is uber talented, as a distributing point with floor vision, just hasn’t a) been physically ready for college ball and b) had an offensive coach who would let him run. I’d bet on him working his way in to good minutes this season and being key by next season
  12. Makes my day lol
  13. I'm thinking Trayce has a real shot at staying on the post-season All-A team. If he adds that mid-to-outside shot to his arsenal, under Woodson's encouragement instead of limitations, and shows it with some consistency, he'll be in the NBA next year. He may be anyway, but adding shooting could well move him up into the first round, can run small ball 5 but needs to show the shooting. I'm not much for mock drafts especially at this point, but this one, an aggregate, has him at 48. https://hoopshype.com/lists/2022-nba-mock-draft-chet-holmgren-jalen-duren-paolo-banchero/
  14. Bottom line: kid’s really good
  15. Good grief this could be an April Fools joke, except it’s October lol
  16. Romeo in opening game of season, double ot loss to Knicks, shot 4-6, 2-3 from arc for 10 and 3 boards in 23 min off the bench- good start to season
  17. Dude, just wait until you're 55 lol
  18. Ok I’m changing my handle to Spicy Italian
  19. IIRC he shot close to 40 percent his senior year of hs - i might be remembering a bit high but he was much better than a 30 percent shooter on more shots - agree his stroke is fine, with more shots i think he can shoot better than we’re expecting
  20. Maybe it’s just the world righting itself — our basketball program is on the way back, we thought maybe we were a football school….
  21. It is a good story, with good insight into Race and Woody’s player development approach to coaching— something we’ve been missing for a while
  22. From practices/scrimmages, are you seeing: - More of the he-who-rebounds-brings-the-ball-up thing? How are fast-breaks tending to be initiated? - point guard / primary on-ball play, what kind of role (increased?) are you seeing Lander in, how is the pg/on-ball play being distributed (ok, pun intended), anything new since the exhibitions?
  23. It will be good news. Players don’t broadcast bad news
  24. Sincerely, PR Director and the Legal Team….
  25. Yeah, I'm a fan of his D and with Fife's schooling (my favorite all-time defensive player for IU), I would bet on his locking people down into the floor
