General Coach Candidate News

We’re the same generation of IU guys. Saw the 76 as a kid, the 81 in HS and 87 at IU. But I have a slightly different take on the last 20 years. Those B1G championships and SW16 runs under Crean were flat out fun, Yogi, Cody, Vic, Hulls, Wat, and then OG, Bryant, heck Troy running baseline for the monster dunk. So the U moved on bc Crean couldn’t build consistently, lost the HS coaches for recruiting, brought in guys who never should’ve been anywhere near an IU uni on talent, and was a goofball on the sidelines with questionable coaching acumen— but we won conf championships and scored like crazy with multiple players who most of us see as some of the better players to play for us and who we continue to love as IU guys in the pros. Biggest mistake the U ever made, worse than rolling the dice on Sampson and then self reporting— hiring CAM -
But it was at Wisconsin…. Don’t disagree with your overall point but anything that happens with the “officiating” at Wiscy….

As a lawyer, my personal favorite is the District Atty I’m dealing with now in one of my cases. DA Dick.

Wait, we’re quoting Dackich now? Lol, that’s just beyond lame.

I’m embarrassed too, but he wasn’t embarrassed under Miller? I mean, that was the most embarrassing, poor coaching, pathetic showing from IU in its history at least from the start of the Knight era

There’s something to this imo. Maybe those days are gone with the portal, but I hope not. A program - team built from the ground up can be so much deeper, and the chemistry that comes with it can’t be really be replicated in year by year redos. The NBA analogy is first the Spurs then Golden State, which largely followed the Spurs model. You gotta have the big building blocks - Duncan, Curry, but they were drafted, not got by trades. Manu, Parker, even Kawhi (drafted by the Pacers but immediately flipped to the Spurs who had him in their sights from day 1.) So all the NBA trades couldn’t stop the legacy teams that the Spurs and Dubs built (though don’t get me started on the Durant thing, lost respect on the move). Of course you have a shorter period to build in college, but the Cody, Yogi, Vic, Wat teams? That’s the IU I want again

Uh, the idea that Woodson is “worse” than Archie is monumentally ridiculous.

Yeah I disagree, only UK is really in that discussion, they’re just as intolerant as IU fans. UNC? Not even close

Woodson acknowledged he blew it leaving Bako out for extended minutes after his second foul. Honestly Cupps playing 22 min with 1 assist was also part of the problem. X had a pretty bad game but bringing him off the bench for Cupps aint the answer, should be pushing x and living with the issues, imo. Cupps lacks experience, strength, speed, he’ll be good but he’s not ready. Finding plusses in such a bad game is hard, but liking Bako rounding into form, we shot more 3’s, Gallo bounced back and with 3-7 from the arc. Hope to see them respond (after the usual loss at Wisc) like they did the last big embarrassment
