I think with Mendoza it may come down to personal vs team goals: if he wants the place that will potentially get him the most NFL ready, I think that’s IU. If he wants the place where he has the best opportunity to play for a national championship, I think that’s Georgia.

Some people are interpreting Fickell’s firing of Longo as a sign that he’s changing course on the whole Air Raid approach. Guess we’ll see on that one. I would hope that the QB opportunity at IU is at least as attractive to portal guys as what’s currently available at Wisconsin or UCLA. And Mendoza (the Elder) doesn’t strike me as someone who would aspire to go somewhere like UGA so he can hand the ball off to a room full of 5-star running backs but time will tell.

No doubt-not really sure what the attraction might be for Mendoza (or other portal QBs) about playing at Wisconsin, especially compared to Cig’s offense. Or Georgia, for that matter, where their overall record has been great but their record on QB development has been pretty mid imo.

Haven’t seen Alberto play, but based on what I saw of his older brother this fall and what some NFL scouts are apparently saying, if he came to IU it wouldn’t surprise me if he was IU’s starting QB by opening day next season.

Sounds like Woodson may not want to stagger those minutes or have Mgbako at the 4 any more than he has to. Hope he’s more flexible than that, but I guess we’ll see soon enough.

I haven’t seen Georgetown play in years but in general I’d prefer an underclassman for a backup big instead of having to add 2 new bigs again a year from now.

Realistically maybe they could make a run at one of the other post players like the guys from Creighton, USC or Nevada. Or maybe the guy from (iirc) Weber State.

Allegedly Scheyer wants a more experienced lineup to surround Cooper Flagg with next season and he isn’t that concerned about some of the guys he’s losing. I guess we’ll see how that plays out. Gotta be a big adjustment for programs like Duke, Kentucky and Kansas now that everyone can buy players.
