He’s 6-9. He’s the same size as Tristan Thompson. A guy who has zero offensive game. It might be a surprise to you, but the NBA is pretty accepting of guys who can only rebound or who can rebound and block a shot or two. And TJD has potential. If the offense comes along then great. But they’ll be drafting TJD mainly for his rebounding and ability to rebound outside of his area. 2-3 years with an NBA trainer and he’ll be playing the 5 likely and maybe the 4 depending on what team he goes to and what other big he’d be on the floor with. Well there’s your problem. Because we need someone who can teach basketball. Not just offense and not just defense. Both sides. We need someone who can recruit. I don’t care about having 15 kids on the roster from Indiana. That means nothing anymore. We just need kids who can play basketball and are ready to work and win. If that kid comes from Indiana then cool. If it’s from North Carolina, Texas or California, then that’s cool too. I don’t care as long as they can play basketball the right way. I have it the ol’ wait and see. We should have been in the NIT his first season and NCAA tourney last season and this season. Then contending for a B1G title next season. That clearly wasn’t the case and his tenure here got off to as horrible a start as you could ask for. I was done after last season. One of the biggest problems with Crean was that he couldn’t adjust his system to fit specific rosters. Archie is in the same boat. He hasn’t made a single adjustment and we are in year 3. He definitely can’t shoot 3’s but that doesn’t make him a post player. And he can dribble. He may not be Kyrie Irving but he can dribble. He’s the one kid on this team who returned and has shown improvement. A lot of that improvement has come from moving to his natural 3 position. People here are so confusing. Don’t want to bench Green or Durham but want to bench or move Smith, the one kid that’s actually improved and is arguably our 2nd best player. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

Sadly if TJD leaves, they’ll be playing in the NIT. Maybe when they are Juniors and Seniors they’ll be dancing. Leals shot got a bit quicker over the summer it seemed. My expectations entering this season were NIT at best after losing out by far two best players. We didn’t add any shooters but added two bigs. But I want to see improvement from players and Archie. I haven’t seen either. Smith I think has improved mentally and is still a very good defensive player. Durham hasn’t improved. Green hasn’t. Rob hasn’t. Players haven’t progressed any during the season. Has TJD looked any different? Has he gotten any better in the post? Any better at sealing his man off? Picked a different post move or two? It’s a no to all of those. Smith is literally the only one from last season to have proved any at all, including the coaching. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I think what makes it worse for me when it comes to Green and Durham is that both have tested the NBA waters to see what they need to get better at... and it didn’t help them any. Tells me they have absolutely peaked and this is just who they are. Smith seems to be the only one to have improved, even if that’s just mentally. I want Durham to return, but he doesn’t need to be a starter anymore, even next season. Honestly would be fine with Leal if his shooting is better or Franklin if his shooting improves. It seems like other coaches will go with a kid who is deep in the rotation at times. Archie played McRoberts who have us nothing all last season but this year won’t go that deep. Durham peaked last season. He’s just not good enough to be a starter at IU if we want to be good. So many thought he’d make a huge jump but he’s stayed the same. Though his decision making is probably worse. I think starting and playing Phinisee could help his confidence, but man, that boy HAS to more aggressive shooting the ball. He has a good mid range game and doesn’t use it. Has no killer instinct on offense and we need it. For whatever reason he just dribbles around and doesn’t shoot.
