Nah there is one thing this fanbase can do great. Overhype a roster. And who exactly is finishing ahead of Purdue? 7th is top half of the league. They finish ahead of Minnesota, Northwestern, Penn State, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Rutgers, Wisconsin?

Sure.. as a freshman. Players can indeed improve. Even if it is something Indiana fans are not exactly used to.

After the season that just happened? Nah they'd be ready to go. I'm sure it was the same for the 2013-2014 season... Which fell flat on its face. And that could happen for Purdue as well.

I don't pay enough attention to HS recruiting. I probably wouldn't notice.

Well they'd probably play through Furst and Loyer. You act like players can't improve from season to season... Yet if that was IUs lineup entering the year... Top 5 in the B1G and people here would be going wild. Painter is a good coach and really that's enough because he just seems to get a lot out of his teams.

He may have but he's going to get his points in a Painter system. Without Edey, Purdue probably speeds things back up since they don't have to go at his speed. Smith, Loyer, Colvin, Gillis and Furst is good enough to finish Top half of the Big Ten without any doubt. And considering it's Purdue, probably finish like 6th and lose to an 11 seed.

No I have plenty of optimism. But first it was Furst and now Catchings. Just silly rumors with the legs of a 6 month old.

If we are out on Knecht, well... There are other dudes we can absolutely get. OR.... NOW STAY WITH ME... This staff pulls their heads outta their ***** and we get some big time player development out of Banks and Gunn and don't need to worry.... Maybe. Still need a backup point guard and a wing to be comfy though.

I am sure they caught a whiff of this silly rumor and are just looking to squash it.

A gut feeling. Not a thing that seems to happen often in basketball. It's happened to us before though with Trey Lyles.

Yea I don't actually see Catchings decommiting, reclassifying and committing to IU. Would be cool, and I think he could start at the 3 day 1, but it ain't happening y'all. Focus on Ledlum and Knecht.

Yea the Bird stuff is pretty normal. Obviously has his own street and massive head by the school. Though I don't believe he was the first NBA player from the area. I think there was actually someone else. Professional athletes are not a normal in this area. In fact, D1 atheltes are incredibly rare. Have had one since Evan Seacat from Paoli went to Northwestern. Which I believe Mike Davis should have recruited Seacat(great 3pt shooter in HS) and Anthony Winchester from Austin(went on to win Conference POY at Western Kentucky). Paoli-Austin had amazing battles during that time.

Loyer is a better scorer than Smith. I'd say Loyer is probably going to be shooting 38%+ and probably averaging 12-14. He will be their 2nd option on offense if Edey comes back. If Edey doesn't, Loyer probably steps in to being #1 and averages probably 15-17. Painter is without a doubt a hell of a coach. And regular season wise, he is very very good. So I see no reason to believe Purdue wont continue being a Top 30 team without Edey. Their weaknesses and strengths will definitely change without Edey.

Yea I still see Purdue being good even without Edey. Smith and Loyer being sophomores helps. Doesn't mean they'll go anywhere in the tourney, but they battle in the regular season.

Michigan State *should* be really good. Purdue will be Top 25 without Edey. I think Maryland is a Top 25 team. I think if we get the right guys, we are too 25 or at the very least getting some votes. I bet if Buie and Adige return for NW, they'll be in the same boat as we are. I think Illinois and Ohio State joins the same group. Wisconsin I believe will be Top 35 and I wouldn't doubt it if they finished Top 6 of the B1G and cracked the Top 25 at some point. B1G will make sure it's a league of "parity." Meaning they'll allow everyone to beat the sh!t out of each other, believe they are playing good basketball and celebrate no teams in the Final Four... Though Michigan State will absolutely have a Final Four caliber team. Purdue will if Edey returns.

And Duke is losing their top recruit.

Well it did. Plenty of stories here about it. And considering I love 15 minutes from his hometown, I hear plenty. Though he couldn't care if his hometown existed anymore.
