Hadn’t really noticed until someone pointed it out last night in the College Basketball thread in response to the Maryland game, but not sure I’m on board with Archie’s philosophy that 2 first half fouls gets you benched for the half. Race was providing some good hustle plays and checking Haarms well. Stapling him to the bench after his second foul seems unnecessary. Last night Bruno picked up 3 in the first half. Finished the game with 3 and Maryland came back to win.

Al should really not be a primary ball handler.

Much better start to this game. Good balance for a change. Holmes with 8 and Gulbe with 6. That’s the type of contributions we need to get out of them to be truly dangerous in March. Also, my hoops crush continues to grow for Grace Berger. I call her Baby Hornsby, because she’s got one of the best looking strokes I’ve seen since Kyle used to shoot ‘em in Assembly.

I'm in the same boat about the NET rankings. Until they release how it's calculated, and based on some of the bizarre results, I don't put much weight in them. I know USPS has mentioned that the NET is just one tool that is meant to be utilized by the selection committee to help them through discussions of team resumes. I'm just going to assume the guys in that room are smart enough to look at the NET and come to a consensus that it isn't perfect, and through their discussions will be able to separate NET ranking of a team like Purdue (14-14; NET 37) and IU (18-9; NET 53), and make an informed decision that the formula got this one wrong.

Minny Chokesssssss. Oh man. Up 5 with :46 seconds left. They turned the ball ober, missed from the end of 1 and 1s three times and just got a broken play 3 drilled in their eye. Haha. Total collapse.

I think Minny’s problem really just comes down to too many losses. Even if they hang on for a nice win at home against Maryland tonight, they’d have to win @IU or @Wiscy, and they only have two road wins all year. So assuming they get Nebraska at home to end the season, they’re likely sitting at 15-15 heading into the B1G tourney. Don’t know too many teams who got at-large bids with only 15 or 16 wins. They would most likely have to win three games in the conference tourney and make it to the semis, and even then you’re talking an 18-16 overall record.

Agree. Think they need one more win. And they’d have to get one either at home against Maryland or on the road against Purdue. Neither an easy task. Lose both of those and they’re likely the 10-seed in the conference tourney and needing a win against a 7-seed Iowa or Michigan. I don’t think 18-14 gets them in. But who knows really. I’m sitting here listening to the announcers of the Minny/Maryland game talking about Minny’s tourney resume like they’re still very much alive at 13-13 overall. ??

Man m, watching this Maryland/Minny game really makes me think about how different our season looks if TJD makes the bunny at the buzzer and we hang on to close out Maryland at home.

Virginia will escape with a W. Hit a go-ahead 3 with 2.6 seconds left. Still pretty weak for a team thought of as a lock for the tourney. Gave up 11 points in the first half and hold on to win by 3 against a team that’s 6-11 in the ACC.

UVA might be the only team in the country that can hold a team to 11 first half points, and find themselves clinging to a 3-point lead half way through the second half. It’s a good thing they play defense, because their offense in woeful.

Maryland only -1 at Minny tonight? Vegas know something we don’t?
