I’m not too concerned about the recruits looking bored. These kids have seen it all by now and I’m sure aren’t easily impressed. Plus they have to have good poker faces so they don’t appear too “into” one school over another. I don’t remember TJD showing that kind of range in the highlight film I’ve seen. Could be wrong though. If Zeke has legit 3-pt range, or consistent range out to 15’, I could see us taking both. I never seem to see Romeo in these lifting/body transformation videos. I’m sure he’s putting in the work but is it that others are making more impressive strides? I see him in the scrimmage vids, of course. I don’t think he’s soft, I just don’t think he’s got a B10 caliber body. A 180 pound kid being knocked around by a 210 pound more mature player over the course of a season is going to take its toll. Disclaimer: This is not meant to be a criticism. Kid oozes talent. So what’s the latest with Newman? I’ve read a good amount of posts about Harris, Ramsey and Bouknight and it seems like all talk about Newman has hit a wall. Is there something I have missed or is it a “if I had my druthers” scenario where he would be the 4th preference among those? He has received an offer, correct? I would love to be this optimistic but I just can’t get on board with the idea of him coming to IU. Too many high, high major programs are making him a priority. Maybe in three years after we’ve been to a couple Elite 8s and a Final Four we can play on the same field as these other programs but for now I think he goes elsewhere. Hope I’m wrong. My question had more to do with the culture aspect and the effect it might have on these kids. I’m sure they had a relationship with TJD, as they should have. I was more wondering about getting the OVs scheduled and the sustained interest by the recruits. I also wonder about the parents’ influence. If I had a kid that was considering MSU, especially as an athlete, I would sit and have a long conversation about “guilt by association” and being part of a decaying culture. I also realize my question is rhetorical. Without diving into the particular kid’s psyche and swimming around a little we won’t know what drives him or is attractive to him. Are these kids affected at all by the culture that’s been prevalently reported on at MSU? I remember reading in other threads that Izzo is in agonal breathing as a coach there and the school’s programs are ripe for a collapse, but it sure doesn’t seem that way with their recruiting. I understand Brooks has had a longstanding relationship with them, but now they’re making major strides with TJD. I don’t get it.
