It's what gives me hope about Archie. He has a system that's been proven effective, albeit at a mid-major. Crean's system wasn't really a system at all. He would just go after the flavor of the day recruit and plug him in. Didn't matter if the player "fit" or not. Crean's "system" fluctuated constantly, ever changing to fit his players' strengths. Difference is coaching philosophy. Crean's style wasn't a good fit and was exacerbated by his reluctance to go after the local talent. He also was just plain hyper. We were patient with him and there was some sporadic success, he just didn't grow the program as he should have based on that success. In the end, as Glass stated, there wasn't enough consistency. Anyone can see that Archie is a completely different coach. He is methodical and sees what he wants to accomplish and a path by which to get there. Crean was always looking for the newest shiny thing. I'm sure Archie's style has a much better chance of success, albeit maybe not quick. I would hate for us to give up on him without giving him a chance to develop his system, only to go somewhere else and tear it up. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

I could see that aspect when talking about a 2019-2021 recruit but it's not like he's going to say "Wow, Romeo really shriveled under the pressure in that big sectional game and laid an egg. I think I'll withdraw our offer". I mean he's a top-5 national recruit. Not trying to be argumentative, I just think his recruitment is way beyond the "game analysis" level. Don't crucify me here but I have a question. Why does it matter if Archie went tonight versus tomorrow night? At this point isn't it totally about massaging Romeo's ego? It's not like Archie needs to evaluate his game to see if he really wants him. The only benefit I see to being present in the gym tomorrow night over tonight is having IU associated with the charged atmosphere. I get that Archie was watching KBJr tonight but I'm not seeing the "this game over that game" idea as it pertains to Romeo's recruitment. I might be missing something here, however.
