I’ll counter it with we still lost 49-26. Ramsey’s had his opportunities to win BIG games and he’s not dynamic enough to do so in my opinion...as is the opinion of most of Hoosier Nation. I have nothing against Peyton at all and I’ll be cheering for him harder than anyone in that stadium outside of his parents on Saturday but he’s just not the answer IMO. We know what he can do and what seem to be his limitations. I hope he makes me a believer come Saturday but until he proves that he can win a game against the likes of an Ohio State, then Im going to believe this is Penix’s team. There’s a reason the coaches made the change this year after watching/coaching Peyton for 4 years...I would like to believe they know more than us fans about the players in their program and their capabilities, but maybe not and maybe some of us should apply for a coaching position to take this program to another level. “Serviceable” doesn’t win you games against teams like Ohio State. His throws are weak and not near as crisp in comparison to Penix which allows defenders to get to the ball quicker and break up potential big plays...I’m not hating on Ramsey at all but I think Penix gives us a better chance. College Football analysts are already comparing Penix to Randle El, even the guys that coached/played against Randle El himself...I think that says something to the special kind of player he is. I think we had a legit chance to pull this off this year. OSU isn’t Alabama. They beat Florida Atlantic 45-21 at home and UCF beat them 48-14 the following week on the ROAD. I think even with Ramsey we can keep it close until late 3rd quarter but he just doesn’t have enough to give us an actual chance down the stretch. The 2 people on this forum that actually prefer Ramsey over Penix are about to get their wish but will finally see why Ramsey is not the answer. I hope Ramsey pulls this off if Penix doesn’t play and I’ll be at the game rooting my tail off for him but without Penix, we stand NO CHANCE! Please prove me wrong Ramsey. Nobody said he is the savior I was just pointing out that last year we scored more points on Ball State but that wasn’t because of Ramsey which is what Brass Cannon alluded to. As far winning the big games, that remains to be determined. You do realize Penix led one of those TD drives last year against Ball State and another TD was an 86 yard punt return for a TD by J-Shun Harris....and that was IU’s 3rd game last year with Ramsey at QB and he put up 24 points and threw for 173 yards sooooo that argument is moot. The D not being to get off the field on 3rd downs was the only thing keeping us from hanging 50+ on them. I don’t know how anybody could want Ramsey in over Penix at this point. Not getting cocky but being around Purdue fans daily and having them talk about Brohm being the greatest coach to walk the sidelines and ALL the momentum they had coming into this season and for them to open the season like this is too funny. Never have I seen such high expectations for a team that finished 6-7 and lost their starting QB, 2 of their 3 starting WR, and entire backfield...Rondale Moore is literally their entire team. Follows up a historical Bowl beatdown with a loss to Nevada to open their “B1G Championship” season. I know it’s Indiana football but it’s hard not to get excited with this team and the potential we’ve seen with these young guys. I can’t remember ever having this much depth on offense...could very well have a top 3 RB and WR core in the B1G with Scott, James, Walker, Gest at RB, and Hale, Westbrook, Whop, and Miles Marshall at WR. A lot of people speculating that Colts will try to trade for Nate Sudfield...Reich coached him and he knows his system already. Wouldn’t be ready to play until mid to late September however. The foundation that Archie is building right now is definitely setting us up nicely for the future, I just hope we give him enough time to see it all come together. I understand that we want to win and win BIG right now but we need to realize that Archie is trying bring stability back to the program with the RIGHT kids. With all the pieces he is bringing in this could very well bring us back to the IU teams of old under Knight. High IQ, fundamental players who have all had team success in high school who will come to IU and WANT to be here and WANT to work their a$$e$ off for the school/program. I, as an Indiana native, a lifelong IU fan and alumni, am genuinely excited about the future no matter how this season turns out and will give Archie time because I know that what he is building right now is truly bringing pride back to Indiana University and to all those associated and it’s about time! De’Ron DAVIS or Trayce Jackson-DAVIS??? If De’Ron Davis is our leading scorer, then it could be a VERY long season. I would assume Green, Hunter, or TJD will be our leading scorer...with Rob being a dark horse. I would be very surprised if De’Ron is top 3 in scoring.
