IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
Hoosier987 replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Let me preface by saying, I would be happy with Hoover. I think he would be a good addition. My only concern/s with Hoover is his height. Seems like Cig (as do I), prefers the 6'3"+ qbs in the Big Ten, (see Rourke and Mendoza). Hoover is not that. Admittedly, I didn't watch a ton of his games, but in the two games I watched TCU, he didn't look off his primary WR (never went through progressions). Hopefully, that was just an anomaly, but if not, could explain his 13 interceptions. -

According to SI.com he's the 101st ranked prospect or WR # 13. This would put him in the mid-rounds. He certainly could go pro but he could come back with a premier NIL package. -
In all seriousness…what is stopping CDD from going out and getting a big?
-
CDD needs to call Josh Smith and Eric Gordon to see if they want to come and play this 2nd semester. Gordon would have 3 years left and Smith all 4 years.

Brohm is next in man up according to Michigan Insiders. If they don't land Brohm, you really got to question if Michigan is an attractive job at the moment with all the issues going on.

Football is number 1 right now and rightfully so. Once the season is over, I assume bball will get more attention since that is the only major sport being played. With that said, low post scoring is an issue - We virtually have none, which is why we shoot so many threes -- "Live by the 3, die by the 3", will be a good statement for this team. I'm a fan of CDD, but Bailey was a major miss, and I think a lot of Hoosier Nation had the same doubt as the Transfer Season Portal was winding down...Is Bailey really going to be an adequate post player in the Big Ten? We aren't a very balanced roster, and I think we're in for a rude awakening playing the bigger more talented teams in conference, i.e., Michigan, MSU, if our 3 point shots aren't falling. Just a thought...I see some schools signing players to be added to their team for the 2nd semester. Would it be worth looking at grabbing a big man? Just a thought as I see Illinois, USC, BYU etc..all adding to their teams. We don't need a scorer necessarily, just someone who can rebound and won't get pushed around physically.

It would be surprising if this team sneaks into the tournament. We simply don’t have the low post game to consistently compete in the Big Ten. I would love to be wrong…but without being hot from 3….not sure we can keep it close against some of the bigger/talented teams in conference. I think CDD is a good coach…definitely need a more balanced roster next season.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Alberto is only a redshirt Freshman? Meaning, if we go for more experience next year, he still has 2 years of eligibility left post 2026 season.. Lets call a spade a spade...it's not very often you have a quarterback starting on the same team for 3 years...unless you're a Julian Sayin type. We're going to be a hot school for top production quarterbacks this off season based on what we built the last couple of years. -
Honestly…probably right here. Bailey is simply outclassed. All we really needed was a rim protector and rebounder, both of which Bailey is not…and to date, he’s hardly an offensive threat playing legit high major teams. I’m a DeVries believer, but not getting a legit rim protector / big in the portal was and is a head scratcher.

Cig confirmed likely out for playoffs. Ndukwe will get his opportunities.

Cig confirmed that Daley likely out for CFP. Hope he makes a speedy recovery. Enjoyed watching him play. Ndukwe will now get his opportunity.

If Daley can't go, schematically, Haines and Cig will have his replacement in the best position. We must also remember, we have over a 1/2 dozen All Big Ten players on defense besides Daley. The amazing and factual situation is, the majority of our defense is elected to an All Big Ten Team, meaning there's a high chance that if an injury occurs to anyone on our defense, it's going to be to a star player. This is a product to how awesome our defense is. The reality of the situation is, our defense still boasts the likes of Fisher, Ponds, Kamara, Boykin, Moore, Bones Jones, Hardy, Wheeler, Ratcliff, Ferrell, Sharpe, Landino, Big Tyrique Tucker, etc...I'm still taking our defense over anybody.

I was in town for the game and it was so much fun. A very good atmosphere too. It was so refreshing to see players play hard. You really notice it when attending the game. We had balance scoring and Bailey improved drastically throughout the game. Enright, although not flashy, is a type of player this program has needed for a long time. He gets up in the opponent’s face. He’s a “pest.” I’m really glad he’s on our team.
