Obviously, I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes -- at practice, in the locker room, at team meetings, etc. But on the surface, it just seems as if Archie has no relationship with his players. There just looks to be a real disconnect there. You don't necessarily want your coach to be friends with the players -- at least while they're in school -- but there needs to be some type of relationship. There just doesn't appear to be much of one. ... Wonder what it was like for him at Dayton?

Good Lord. Our fan base has sunk to a new low. I just saw a FB post calling for Alan Henderson as head coach. Never have so many known so little about so much. -
Watching that documentary tonight was very nostalgic for me. That summer (1985) was right before my senior year in high school, which makes my freshman year at IU our NCAA title season. Thought it was very classy of Delray Brooks to appear. My high school was awful at basketball (we're a football school), but during my sophomore year, we played Michigan City Rogers and Delray when he was a senior. Rogers was ranked No. 1 in the state and I think might have been considered a top 5 team nationally. For the only time all season, our gym was packed -- because everyone wanted to see Delray. And even though we'd probably have been a 20-plus point underdog -- we had them beat. Pretty much led the entire game, but stumbled at the end and lost in OT. Rogers didn't lose again until the state tournament -- I believe they were upset by eventual state champ Warsaw in the semistate. Got a little teary eyed seeing the guys talk about Daryl Thomas, and seeing Bob Knight at the end when he returned to AH really got the waterworks going. I don't think it's a secret that he's battling Alzheimer's/dementia. I lost my dad to that nearly four years ago. Tomorrow would've been his 90th birthday.

Damn, they're talking about Daryl Thomas in this doc and I'm getting tears in my eyes. Gone way, way too soon.

Winston Morgan on game vs. Yugoslavia: "Kid spit on me, so I cracked him ..." This show is so good.
-
Coach Knight: "Hey Stew, sing ... " Stew Robinson: "Old MacDonald had a farm ... " Tonight's game made me cry. That made me laugh.

Rutgers gets a massive throw-down at 1:55 and the announcer says: "That may be the exclamation point!" That came about 15 minutes ago.

I did not see Race's injury, but I do have exclusive footage of our practice yesterday.
-
It's Cooper Bybee time!
-
Man, did that get ugly in a hurry.
-
Well, we can't blame this one on a poor start.
-
Jerome just bounced the ball right to the Rutgers player. Not sure I've ever seen that before.
-
We can't score but at least we can't stop them.

Somebody been yankin' our chains?
-
I posted in the other thread, but will do here as well ... Reliving the "War of the Worlds," perhaps? Nothing but a hoax? ... He could very well be injured, but who knows?
-
Could it have been a reprisal of "War of the Worlds" --- a big hoax? Race, warming up at the State University of New Jersey ... He very well could be injured ... Who knows?

It seems to me that by most indications, he will most likely be back next season -- your chat with the Super Sub notwithstanding. Do you think he gets a little latitude from the decision-makers for going all season without his starting center, losing his best shooting guard for a couple games in the middle of the season and presumably finishing the last two weeks of the season without one of his two healthy true front line players? Please don't understand me -- I'm not making excuses for him; just asking a question. -

I'd be willing to bet Old Fart is praying it is true as well!

That whole thing last night reeked of the old "I know something you don't know" game that 5-year-olds play. Just seemed very childish. If you have info and are gonna put it out there, do it. Otherwise, what's the point -- other than to get attention, I guess. And rather than to share information, that very well may have been his goal. ... I saw on another board, people were guessing as to what might have happened. One person wrote something like, "I saw some things, but I'm not saying ..." ... Then why post? What's the point?
-
My guess is nothing has been released to protect Race's privacy. ... It's sorta up to reporters who cover the team to flesh it out and so far, it appears nobody has. That Tom Brew dude posted a couple hours ago that the IU media relations department had no comment. Well, of course they had no comment. If you're a reporter, you need to have better sources than just going to the SID.

The new scouting report on us, sans Race Thompson ... "They got no head toppers -- a bunch of mites, run ya off the boards. You got to squeeze 'em back in the paint, make 'em chuck it from the cheap seats."

Is Coach K retiring? LOL! -
On a FB page I follow, someone said Race broke his nose and that it's the kind of injury that requires surgery -- a mask won't do the trick. Or more likely -- surgery, then a mask. Said it's all over Twitter and message boards. Guess I'm not looking for the right things, because I'm not seeing anything on Twitter -- except that Sam Story tweet.

If what I'm seeing here is true, maybe very, very soon ...
