  1. The difference this time is the fact that it sounds like the inner circle on this is very small. There is no search firm to leak, there are no agents to leak, there are no lawyers to leak.
  2. How did this go down last time. Was it a press release or a press conference?
  3. I have been lurking on IU boards forever. I think I joined this board "officially" back in 2017 and haven't even posted until this week. In addition to the people you have mentioned I remember a GovernmentCheese from one of the boards.
  4. I have not found a single place to bet on this. Sportsline published the odds but no one is taking bets. William Hill is the "Official Sports Book" of Sportsline and CBS and even they aren't taking the bet.
  5. Except for the fact that it was released in the middle of the summer of ‘88, and the plot of the movie does not revolve around the theme of Christmas.
  6. I believe someone else (possibly one of our insiders) said that Brad had a option of $50M over 7 years or $70M over 10 years.
  7. Well, it is what they teach in journalism school, and I doubt an editor would go to publication with less.
  8. Funny thing, most journalists don’t publish rumors and innuendo, they publish facts supported by two sources. You don’t get to have it both ways and take all the credit when you “break” a rumor, and none of the blame when you are wrong.
  9. It means that if Brad comes Rabjohns can claim that he knew all along, and if he doesn’t he can say that he never told anyone it was a done deal.
  10. Ohh lord. Let’s not turn this into a debate about whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
  11. Just like a STD. Ignore it and it will go away.
  12. I saw that. I had no idea he is a cardiologist.
  13. I wonder if everyone is hearing this from the same IU player. If so, it is apparently the most untrustworthy blabbermouth former player ever. My vote is for Todd Leary or Dakich.
  14. Is that the Dallas to Bloomington to White Plains flight?
  15. If we are having problems with acronyms imagine how bad it is when Brad Stevens comes and everyone is using CBS. That will confuse the hell out of newbies.
  16. They could just be coordinating the announcement.
  17. Uh-oh. I hope no real juggalos read that.
  18. I don’t think anyone doubts that he is legit, but he is just being an @$$hat about it.
  19. I believe that they would still own his rights. What they could want from IU is $$$$$ to release him unconditionally so if he ever goes back to the NBA, they don't own his contract.
  20. I actually only know of two instances where an NBA coach has ever been traded to another team.
  21. No worries. I used the word "forced" because it had honestly not been done before. Most teams are willing to voluntarily release a coach without asking for something from another team in exchange. I think Indiana may be running into Ainge wanting something in return for Brad. I am not entirely sure that Ainge would be allowed to prevent Brad from coming to IU without an unconditional release. I would have to believe that Brad would have one hell of an anti-trust suit if they tried to pull those shenanigans.
  22. I actually didn't really make a judgment on whether it is right or wrong. Danny Ainge is a shrewd negotiator and he is not going to let anything of value go for free.
  23. If they wanted IU to pay Romeo's salary, they would just include a buyout addendum to Brad's contract. The original question was whether an NBA team could fund the buyout, and I would contend that they could via draft picks. I doubt it could be a straight cash exchange due to the crazy NBA trade balancing rules.
  24. I would actually be shocked if Danny wasn't trying to stick it to the Pacers for a draft pick in order to release Brad. I also wouldn't be shocked if he isn't trying to trade for another head coach after hearing that Brad is leaving.
