Is this guy a great recruiter? I don’t know much about him. I know Drew is supposed to be a pretty good recruiter, especially in the Midwest, but are we looking for more player development or recruiting or both?

So if we miss out on Murphy, does anyone know who our most realistic options to fill out our assistant coaching positions would be?

That’s really unfortunate because now we’re behind the eight ball instead of riding the wave of the past couple seasons when fans were packing the stadium. Now we’ve taken several steps backwards. Hopefully a donor can throw some money into the women’s program and at least snag a couple quality Bigs.. Hopefully Terry can work some magic this off-season…. She’s going to need it.

So, no one in charge could foresee that the women were going to need NIL in this era? Top-tier recruits were going to flock to IU like they’ve never done before because of culture? If true, that seems incredibly out of touch.

I don’t know if I would consider us a title contending team for 5 years? Maybe if you reach the sweet 16 several times. Terry is a great coach, but she might not be good at team management, and if she’s not she needs to bring somebody in who is. She seems to be recruiting the same type of players that have not been getting us anywhere elite. it doesn’t really matter if teams like Notre Dame lose their top couple players because they will replace them and be back in the hunt, we haven’t been able to come close.

It is sad at this stage of Terry’s career at Indiana that Yarden doesn’t consider this a title contending team at this juncture. Something’s Gotta give.

Seems like we’re back in the same old recruiting pattern. Can’t even get the 3rd tier players on campus. Absolutely mind boggling.

My wife stood beside her and said she was the largest woman she has ever seen..lol..with great post moves to boot.

I also really like this hire because I think he fits right in to the no nonsense (Cignetti) process oriented winning culture. I am excited to see who fills out the roster and I’m sure it will be high quality, high character kids. Go IU!

I would say that if we get Merkel that we still need to add another quality big in case of injury. And I agree that Merkel has a lot of tools, but she really needs to get in better shape. If that happens, she could be pretty dominant.

Right on man I believe it no doubt, but a program like ours should never be in a position to only have four Big Ten players on the roster to begin with so hopefully she gets this figured out.

I often wonder what some of the top players like JuJu get/year? I just never hear numbers when it comes to women’s basketball NIL. I also wonder what the average is per player and what we as a program could possibly afford.

I was saying that I don’t know how much NIL is a factor…how we stack up against the better teams etc… we know a lot about the boys NIL but I haven’t heard any numbers for the girls program. It certainly is a major factor now days.

This is why I said she deserves a championship. I hope she can get over the recruiting hump. More NIL? She needs whatever she needs to stay competitive, then her coaching skills will take care of the rest.

I tend to agree with this it seems like the identifying of talent is all over the place sometimes really good and sometimes a lot of really questionable, hope she can get it figured out.

I hope you are right and she can start pulling in some big fish because she deserves a championship. I would be interested in knowing what the NIL funds are for the women’s team compared to teams like UCLA or South Carolina etc.

I understand that, but obviously there’s a break in the line somewhere because a lot of the players that she’s been recruiting have not fit a culture of big time winning.
