  1. I get it. He's a little odd. He isn't perfect and not my top choice. I just want to win. I'm tired of watching god awful basketball. If he's the "backup" I'm fine with that instead of an Archie Miller or Mike Woodson like hire.
  2. one last item..IU is incredibly lucky to have Dusty May as an alumn. Look at UK and Louisville last year. All I heard was Dan Hurley to UK and Scott Drew to UL. They didn't hit "home runs" during their hire. Pope and Kelsey have done great so far. Point is, it's going to be really hard to get a very good coach to leave their current situation. Why I'm extremely happy that someone with the success of May, Cronin, McDermott would want to potentially come here.
  3. There are several great candidates out there. I honestly feel like the pool is much better this time around compared to 2021. Sure I'd love Dusty May. He is the top option. But...Why does nobody want Cronin or McDermott? I'd be thrilled if Indiana got them. Cronin has won at places that don't have the resources like IU...yes I know it's UCLA but still. Once he got Cincy going they made the tournament every year. At UCLA in his second year they had a final four run. Two Sweet 16's the seasons after that. They look like a team that can make a run in March. His teams play hard. I also think his personality is EXACTLY what this program needs. Look how UCLA has done since he called the team out. McDermott did an incredible job taking Creighton from the MVC to the Big East. Starting in 2019-2020, Creighton has been a contender to compete for their conference championship and to make the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I think they almost got to the Final 4...lost to San Diego State in a crazy game if I remember. I just don't get all the complaining. I'm sick and tired of watching this crappy play of basketball. As a fan, I want this team to contend for Big Ten Championships and make deep runs in March. Make it to the second weekend, anything can happen. Dusty May has proven he can do this. But so has Mick Cronin and Greg McDermott. I'd go as far to say IU is a top 20 team this year with either one of these guys coaching. Indiana probably isn't going to have a coach until late March. I'm trying my best to get behind this team and hope they can maybe make some kind of run. If not, I'll enjoy the rest of college basketball. I think Dolson will get this hire right. It just can't be Stevens or bust. Yes, he was my #1 choice. But he doesn't want to be here. I'll go: 1) May 2) Drew 3) Cronin 4) McDermott
  4. Yeah, again, I think it's going to be "Brad Stevens has met with Indiana University about their upcoming vacant position. Talks are ongoing." Very similar to like Steichen being the Eagles OC while talking to the Colts...I don't think it officially "broke" until the day of the Super Bowl. Kellen Moore to the Saints is another example.
  5. This. I'm tired of the hot mid-major guy and hiring someone just because they went here. Get us a proven winner. Stevens, May, Beard, Drew, Cronin (ducks and hides)...any of them and I'm happy.
  6. 100%. Shams is my bet.
  7. Yeah and I don't think it would be today but you never know. It could be a few weeks down the road. However, IF it's Stevens, I just don't see a way this keeps quiet for another month. It would be the top story in sports.
  8. No. I am just saying if he really is meeting with IU, I have to think something from the national media will leak. Maybe not.
  9. If it's a good hire, I hope they use the "I win, Google me" line. Would be awesome.
  10. If it's Stevens, no way this is quiet unitl mid-March. It may be something like "Brad Stevens has met with Indiana University regarding their HC position. He is strongly considering it" Nothing will be official until the season ends out of respect to the current team. It's kind of like Kellen Moore going to the Saints. or Steichen a few years ago. It wasn't "official" until after the Super Bowl.
  11. Something will leak from the national media people eventually. At least I would think.
  12. Bingo. And this falls on ALL the decision makers (we know who) that decided to keep Woodson another year. Dusty May 100% takes this job a year ago. Maybe even Bruce Pearl. Once again, another example of the administration failing the fans. Hopefully Dolson can get a very good coach this time around.
  13. I don't want a situation where it's Stevens Plan A and there is nobody else...kinda thinking that's what happened in 2021. I think it's great to cast a pretty big net.
  14. If it is Stevens, I have to think things get leaked sooner rather than later. I don't see it staying quiet until the IUBB season ends in about a month.
  15. Seeing the success that UK, Louisville, and Michigan are having this year is getting me pumped for next season. Hire the right coach, bring the right staff and players in...results should happen. I know I am not supposed to say this, but I like what Mark Pope has done at UK. Their top 3 options at PG out...two freshmen come off the bench, average a combined 4 points a game...they score 20 last night against the #5 team in the country. Michigan, who was awful last year, beats Purdue who has been the best program in the Big Ten over the last 8 or so years.
  16. Here's why I put some stock into their Hot Board. Jeff isn't perfect but he works extremely hard. Woodson's been on the hot seat since this time last year. These names have been probably floating around since last spring. One thing I liked about IU's portal "haul": if it failed (like it has) it gets Woodson out.
  17. If I remember right, Miller was in the main group for the 2017 Hot Board, Woodson was nowhere near the top in 2021. Interesting list for sure.
  18. Forgot she is in the Media School...thought it would've been IndyStar.
  19. It's February 6th. Season likely will end on March 12th or 13th. 5 more weeks of the speculation. Just so much time between now and then. I still believe our guys that we had Stevens in 2021 and he backed out at the midnight hour. Hope we get him this time.
  20. I agree but you still take him. He's 48. He honestly didn't do that bad in the NBA. His move from Butler to Boston shocked me. I always thought he would be back. 2021 felt like the time to do it. He played a huge part in the Celtics winning it all last year. They are a contender this year too. College sports are becoming more like pro sports every year. Some people think Woodson didn't work at IU because he's an NBA guy. Woodson didn't work at IU because he's lazy. I don't think Stevens is.
  21. Couple thoughts about today 1) I'm surprised Goodman in the media was the "first" one to "break" this. Makes me think it could've been leaked by the university to speed this up. 2) No reason IU can't have a new coach by the start of the NCAA Tournament. Some really good jobs could open up this year (UNC, maybe Texas?). Need to get our guy...if it's Stevens, McCollum, May, etc great. Just win!! I'm tired of Indiana Basketball being like everybody else.
  22. I'll go 1) Stevens 2) Pearl 3) Few 4) May Would take any of them. IF I had to pick, I think May gets it.
  23. Wow. Wish I could give it a listen.
  24. This is easily a top 5 day in this boards history.
  25. I don't want a situation like OSU or Texas where the interim coach does a good enough of a job to stick around and get a long term contact. This usually doesn't work out. I'm hoping for a fresh start next season.
