(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
HoosierFan1994 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Exactly... this he said she said stuff is all silly. NOBODY knows. The worst I've heard is "Romeo's girlfriend is going to IU". -
Kind of surprised at the backlash in Evansville over this... Marty never even made it to the NIT. The MVC isn't a terrible conference. Not saying you should be in the tournament every year but you should have a team every 3-4 years that should make it (look at UNI). Where is Calbert at right now? Last I checked he was at St. Louis.

2018 NCAA Tournament Games

I've got Michigan State over Arizona with UNC and Villanova in the final four. A lot of great matchups. This year was the toughest bracket to fill out IMO. -
Agreed. No 1/2 seed will want to play Mizzou. Notre Dame could be the best 12 seed of all time.

Next Thursday we will start seeing the same Samuel L. Jackson and Charles Barkley Capitol One commercial...worst part of March Madness. I'll take the "Dilly Dilly" add any day over that.

#IHSAA Boys/Girls State Tournament

TJD vs. Romeo is a strong possibility on Saturday night. This years Mr. Basketball vs. the potential 2019 Mr. Basketball. I wonder how many other Mr. Basketballs have faced off in the State Tournament. I imagine not many. -

Evansville North has some. Only selling to employees or residents in the district. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Kansas is literally like the Patriots (except less titles). Teams in the Big 12 are scared of them.

IF we could land 2/3 that would be huge. Don't get me wrong I love our incoming Freshmen but they aren't the type to have a major impact right away. Romeo, Sanford, Grad Transfer big, and Morgan would be your top 4 players. The freshmen could provide depth (hopefully better than the 2012 class in 2013). Again it's a big IF. By the time our incoming freshmen are juniors they (Hunter, Phinisee, Anderson, Forrester, Thompson) could be very very good. -

Who all is going to Seymour this weekend? Getting my tickets tomorrow. Center Grove-New Albany regional Championship is what I'm hoping for but you can't look past Bloomington South. -
He turned out to have a decent career. Better than most would have expected.
-
That makes sense. Just with my eye test (which means nothing) Michigan State beats Kansas by ten on a neutral court. Michigan State has depth and Kansas does not.
-
I know rankings aren't everything but ESPN has Michigan State as a 3 seed and they are ranked 4th. They also have Kansas as a 1 seed. I don't understand that at all.
-
Death, taxes, and Illinois players transferring in March.
-
100% agree. The last three years he has had his team playing really well in March. The 2013 team as well. They were a 4 seed ended up in the title game.
-
Definitely a great point about McRoberts. The fact Clifton Moore didn't play this year I think is really telling. I don't think he will be back but I hope he sticks around. Seemed like he had a lot of potential.

I figured. We can't assume anything after what happened in November with Garland. -

Is Kansas out of this? I saw someone with rivals say it seemed to be down to IU and Vandy. -
Agree. This tournament will be fun to watch. It sucks that IU has not been a factor in March but I love this time of the year. IHSAA tournament/conference tournaments/and the NCAA's!
-
100% agree. I'm not surprised with the way recruiting has been. I hope this summer is like the 2011 one where the guys were sick and tired of losing.
-
Like most I believe we have the right coach. This current roster is what really got Crean fired. Even during the 2016 B1G Championship season I thought the program was going to drop off significantly in the next few years . The recruiting just was not there (Grant Gelon enough said). Robert Johnson never lived up to his top 50 rankings. This program needed him to be an effective scorer his junior and senior year and he was not. Freddie McSwain and Zach McRoberts got way too many minutes and are not D1 starters. Josh Newkirk rivals Jeremiah Rivers as the worst transfer in IU history. Collin Hartman just couldn't stay healthy. I do believe that Juwan Morgan will be back next season and could be a 1st Team All-Big player. I think Justin Smith could possibly be our 6th man and have an impact like Will Sheehey. I have to think Phinisee and Hunter start as freshmen since they are Archie's guys. Damezi should get good minutes. Thompson/Forrester/and maybe Moore should have an impact next year. The biggest question heading into this offseason IMO: 1) Romeo's decision- if he commits IU will be a B1G contender and a possible top 10/15 team. I think he could average 20 points a game next year. If not I think we will be better than this year but not by much. 2) De'ron's health- If he can stay healthy, he can really be a force. Must improve defensively and stay out of foul trouble. 3) Who leaves- Juwan could very well go pro and nobody could blame him. Devonte Green could possibly transfer and maybe Clifton Moore. I think Al stays. 4) Grad Transfers- Sanford (Toledo) has been rumored to IU. The Vincennes player as well. I would have to think that if De'ron's health is an issue that we pick up a center as well. My expectations for this team was too high. I felt we could be a middle of the road B1G team with some quality wins and could be a 8/9 seed in the NCAA's. Yes this team improved as the year when on but you cannot lose to Indiana State, IPFW, and Rutgers. It just cannot happen. I am excited for next year and fully believe Archie is going to do everything he can this offseason to make us even better next year.

I remember reading a book by Steve Alford. His freshman year coach Knight had the score of losing to Miami (OH) on the board all season. I hope Archie does the same thing.

He needs to go away. I thought he would have after he cried wolf for Billy.
