  1. My thoughts exactly. He definitely hit the ground running in recruiting however hasn't shown he cares to deviate from his approach to what these players are best suited to do, which is run and gun, chuck it up, hope it goes in, and hope you score 90 before the other team. These players aren't used to a coach calling them out and telling the nation they're soft. Archie's right and not trying to sell something we don't see. That said, I expected more this season. It seemed like the guys were bought in until the going got tough and Archie continues to ask for high effort all the time.

  3. Any Archie sightings in and around Indiana HS coaches or AAU circuits last week? It seemed in his media tour he was in a car for some of them with GPS actually going off in the background a couple times. Or is he just using GPS to figure out Btown and the best pizza places...lol.
  4. I hope you're right and definitely see the parallel comparison. I sure hope we continue to be the elite job for him after he gets us back to elite and he doesn't bolt for another blueblood like pUKe, Dukey, or UNC (no funny name I can think of here but thinking along the lines of not graduating players, fake test scores, etc).
  5. I think it'd be great if Fife were one of them.
  6. You said it so well, "5'9 flamethrower"....Love it!
  7. Everything about his realness is going to translate well. Tough, scrappy little guy with the Northeast accent, although from Hickville, PA. Love everything about this hire.
  8. Take a xanax or a shot of your favorite alcohol.....or both. Give Archie a chance and we'll see what happens. Donovan was a pipe dream in my opinion. Archie is an exciting hire to me. I'd be pissed if it had been Alford. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Other (outside the usual suspects, Alford, Fife, Holtman, Mack, Millers, Marshall) - 75% Bennett - 15% Donovan - 5% Stevens - 5%
  10. This season was so bad I chose ironing over watching the NIT game.
  11. So...back to the main topic of Crean's replacement. I'm all for BD or Stevens or Archie or Sean or even Marshall but what about Mike Brey at ND? He's taken them to back to back elite 8's and they play with passion and tenacious defense. Not to mention being in the ACC this year is a big feather in their cap since it was such a deep league. 12. If this is true, and I hope it is, yeah we'll be back in the "good ole days" of being guaranteed on average 20 wins per year, which is admirable and fine with me but we'll have some lean years too. Don't be fooled that we'll be a 1, 2, or 3 seed every year or that we won't be upset like some of his high seeded teams were. But I'm giddy thinking we could be nearing the end of Clapper Crean and mediocre coaching. 13. Take a look at the data since Crean arrived. He definitely deserves benefit of the doubt for 2008-2011 rebuilding from the Sampson debacle. Since 2011 he's 136-66 overall, 62-44 in the Big Ten. Most programs would appreciate those numbers but as IU fans, we obviously don't. It's really a toss up since he's won 20 games 4 of the last 6 years but that reminds me of the late Bob Knight years when we were excited to win 20 games although also be out in the first or second round of the tournament. All of this is pretty much boiling to a head since Crean can't seem to string together 20 plus wins per season every season and advance past the Sweet 16 a couple times in a span of 3-4 years. His only Final Four, also IU's last Final Four, in 2002, should be taken into consideration too. Marquette was blown out by Maryland, who IU played well for the first 30 minutes before the better team wore them down. And the icing on the cake, IU beat Kelvin Sampson's Oklahoma Sooners to reach the final. A little ironic how all of this has played out so far don't you think? IU Win_Loss Data.xlsx
