Best of luck to Sunseri. He'll be calling plays against Haines next year.
-
I wouldn't too much into it. I didn't. I think he was asked why they didn't pursue a QB for this year's signees? I could be wrong.
-
You are correct. This year they were allowed to schedule 12 but 11 games is the norm.
-
Yep. This isn't the NFL where there's only one league of 32 teams. The NFL shouldn't even be a comparison for something like this. The FCS should be the model for comparison. The FCS normally schedules 11 regular season games. This year they were allowed to schedule 12. It features a 24-team postseason bracket: 10 teams decided via automatic bids issued to conference champions, 14 at-large bids and the top 16 teams are seeded. They started the playoff this past Saturday. The national championship game will be played January 6th, 2025. The max amount of games a school would be able to qualify for is 16 to 17 depending on the calendar year.

Dude could be listed at 5'7" 170 for all I care. LOL!!!!
-
FCS has had this bracket for years. Probably should do away the conference championships though.
-
Honestly, I'd prefer the "FCS style" playoff. Here is what it would look like if it started tomorrow.

I was concerned about his size. LOL! Foolish me.

Ok a few things here. First and foremost, IUFB is a lock!!!! We're playing for the hardware baby! I like our chances regardless where we play in the first round. Looking forward to that first round game. Seeding discussing Yes, there needs to be an adjustment about the auto seeding vs rankings. However, I do not agree that the bowls shouldn't be apart of the playoff. I've always been an advocate to have every game in the CFP on a neutral field and basically use all the bowls as the neutral fields. Where the higher seeds get a regional bowl game assigned to them. For example, if Penn State where the higher seed in the first round they would be playing in the Military Bowl in Annapolis, MD. If ND were the higher seed they would be playing in the Gameabove Sports Bowl in Detroit, MI. Dawgs would be playing in the Cricket Celebration Bowl in Atlanta. Put O$U at the Music City Bowl in Nashville. Keep the assigned bowls in the quarterfinals and semifinals. I do understand the logistics of it would be a nightmare and the likelihood of it happening is slim to none. But doing something like this format will make all the money grabs and traditionalist (folks that want to experience a bowl game) happy. And with it only being four games it can be done theoretically. 12 Team CFP Format I have a desire to expand the CFP to at least a 16 team playoff. This format will eliminate first round byes and the Bama over Miami discussion isn't really that much of a problem. If the CFP were set to 16 the discussion would be about 3 loss schools getting in over each other. With the exception of the current Big 12 perception problem. Regardless there will always be schools that get snubbed and that discussion will always occur.

Starters RT Trey Wedig - 6'7" 319lbs LT Carter Smith - 6'5" 308lbs Backups Cooper Jones - 6'5" 314lbs Austin Barrett - 6'6" 308lbs Redshirts (they'll probably add pounds during the offseason) Evan Lawrence 6'6" 281lbs Austin Leibfried 6'6" 288lbs I think we're pretty solid with size, it's just depth and development. And who knows how many in the OL room decide to transfer out. -
Let's wait and see what kind of ranking our beloved Hoosiers get tonight.
-
That's debatable about the SEC being tougher this year. But I completely agree with what you're saying here. Especially the 8 conference games. It backfired on them this year because of the size of the conference and lack of cream rising to the top. There's really only three schools that are clearly good enough to be in the CFP with all the other "Illini's" in the conference trying to justify worse losses than the real Illini.
-
Who knows but I think our best case to host would be Texas and SMU winning. I'm not sure a 3 loss team will host over a 1 loss P4 school. Regardless, there's gonna be seed shuffling after this weekend. Let's hope we get a favorable CFP ranking tonight.

Nah man, the "Bowl experience" will be considered playing in the NIT. This is a good thing. A CFP participant is much much more coveted. Way way way more important than playing the Citrus or whichever else. Recruits know this too.
-
It took the last game of the season to accomplish this. They have accomplished everything on this list except the NFL draft. That will be determined in April 2025.

I'm waiting on the All-conference announcements. Once those drop, I'll have a wish list. Regardless, front 5 and front 7 need to be addressed for depth. For example, someone like Red Murdock, LB out of Buffalo, will more than likely be an all-conference. He's a SO from VA. I wouldn't be surprised if he's caught the eye of Coach Haines. Eric O'Neil and Khairi Manns out of JMU are other names to keep an eye on. -
Regardless the seed this week it will change after the conference championships. IUFB still has an opportunity to host a game is what I'm trying to say if that makes sense.

Let's hope this month fills holes for next season. Remember, production > potential. Whoever decides to transfer here will most likely be a solid contributer to his current team. And Coach Cig isn't afraid to look at G5 and FCS talent with chips on the shoulders. Definitely need depth at OL.
