  1. Not nearly as many. He's not a generational talent like Romeo.
  2. How do you pronounce this guy’s last name?
  3. Or maybe, just maybe, a group of people got together and came up with a framework that they thought was the best way to objectively rank schools. But a conspiracy theory is a simpler and more reasonable answer. I'm not arguing that Indiana isn't a good school as my degree is from there, and I have had little trouble getting good jobs. But outside of a few schools, anyone arguing that Indiana is one of the best academic institutions in the country has very little basis for that assertion. Obviously I'm contributing to this thread going off the rails, and I'm not going to change your mind so I'll leave it at that.
  4. I'm not saying that it's perfect (affordability doesn't seem to factor in), but all they are doing is aggregating data from a bunch of different sources.
  5. The WSJ just started last year and yet you know schools are paying for their rankings?
  6. I'm fairly certain you didn't know the methodologies of either one before making that statement. Are the business and music school rankings a joke as well? IU as a whole is not perceived as a top academic institution in the US. Not sure there is much of anything out there to disprove that.
  7. No one is ever going to confuse IU for being one of the top academic institutions in the country. The WSJ/Times Higher Education just came out with rankings and we were 138th which honestly shocked me. But I don't think I've ever seen IU in the top 50 on a list like that. Edit: US News and World Report - 90th
  8. I'm sorry but there is little to no chance he has a better vertical by multiple inches than every player currently in the NBA. That's why I was wondering if they're measured differently.
  9. OK. We can make a bet then. If Justin Smith makes it to the combine, he won't get within 4 inches of that.
  10. Is there a difference between IU's max vertical and the combine vertical? Oladipo had a 42 inch vertical at the combine and there is no chance Justin Smith's vertical is 6 inches better than Oladipo's. So I'm assuming I'm missing something.
  11. Not unless the Purdue job opens up.
  12. George is still an elite defender. You could bring two guys out of the stands and that would still damn near be the best defensive team in the league.
  13. Don’t disagree they’re meaningless but there’s not much else to talk about this time of year. I’m just surprised Archie has one down year and people seem to have forgotten what a good coach he is. We will compete for the BIG this year.
  14. 247 Big Ten Power Rankings I find it a little crazy how little respect IU is getting in pre season prognostications. As far as this list, do people forget we finished tied for 6th last year? The only key contributor we lost was RJ but let’s be honest, Romeo will almost certainly be a better player. Yet Maryland is going to jump us despite their losses? Wisco jumps us simply because they return all 5 starters? How is Purdue rated so high? I would give any Purdue fan 3 to 1 odds of them finishing higher than us. Michigan lost 3 of their top 4 scorers and yet they are 2nd? I think this is the last preseason an archie miller led IU team is overlooked headed into the season. Edit: I was assuming this is a collaborative 247 ranking based on the contributors but maybe it was just one guy’s opinion
  15. To me, he would need to bring two all stars with him (PG and Kawhi?) to make LA feasible. They just don't have enough firepower currently for James to plug in and compete with Golden State.
  16. I think this is way overplayed. Either way you have to beat Golden State. He is going to go to where he thinks he has the best chance to do that. I don’t understand why no one is mentioning the Pelicans.
  17. I could see that. I mean that lineup would go 6'1, 6'5, 6'7, 6'7, 6'8...not exactly a short lineup.
  18. Got pounded by Illionois 7-1 in the first round of the BTT last night.
  19. Depending on definition of “current big player”, he may not qualify. Heard he turned some heads at the combine.
  20. That is the most painful announcing I’ve ever heard.
  21. Just curious, is this based on anything or a gut feel?
  22. This keeps being said and it seems like it's implying IU did something. IU definitely benefitted from this arrangement (certainly not trying to play the Kansas "victim" card), but did IU actually do anything?
  23. I think this is exactly right. Anyone who doesn't have Smith in the starting lineup is nuts IMO.
