  1. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2018/10/25/five-teams-snubbed-overrated-college-basketball-preseason-poll/1760944002/ If Loyola should be ranked, what does that say about us? I'm pretty convicted that we will finish the year in the top 15, barring injuries.
  2. Jeremiah April was in the same class as Robert Johnson and Priller the Thriller (and Emmitt Holt)...how the heck is he a junior?
  3. Phinisee is a freshman who will make freshman mistakes. Green will get his chances.
  4. We don't need him to score though. If he can hit an open shot to prevent defenses from sagging too much, that is really all we need from him on offense. In one of the Illinois games he must have hit four jumpers and looked confident doing it. If he can get to that level a little more consistently, that is what we need. And honestly I think he's capable of it...just needs a bit more confidence this year. But his defense and intangibles are actually of even greater value with the talent around him because his offense really isn't needed.
  5. Now that I look again, it looks like buying something like season tickets for women's basketball would be the best deal for getting cumulative points. You can really get season tickets for $45? https://iuhoosiers.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=GS%3AINDIANA%3AWB18%3AWBS%3A&linkID=indiana&shopperContext=&pc=&caller=&appCode=&groupCode=WBSEA&cgc=
  6. Are you aware of the how the points system works for IU athletics? (asking honestly) The best ways to build up points that actually accumulate from year to year (IU wants big donors to donate every year so most donations only count for one year) include donating to the varsity club annually, buying season football tickets, and buying season basketball tickets. I was told two years of donating to varsity club and buying season football tickets may get me eligible for basketball tickets. https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/2015/4/1/priority-points.aspx
  7. You are looking purely at stats. It was very clear that Penix at least has an arm. But yes, Ramsey is clearly the answer.
  8. If your QB is consistently making the wrong read on the RPO, why keep calling an RPO? Is DeBord your uncle or something?
  9. I'm not sure Allen's opinion on when they might get him back means too much. He's just being optimistic.
  10. Carsen was also the number 1 seed in the entire bracket. Look, I don't care if he is the best player or second best player in the country...he's one player. They lost 4 starters and are not a top 25 team.
  11. Lol at Purdue being ranked 24th. We have a better team on paper and it's not close. These guys are clowns.
  12. I understand this sentiment and again would agree it's ideal, but in the end I think people are overstating its importance, even to themselves. (obviously a very subjective statement) As Yogi Berra said, "In theory, theory and practice are the same, in practice they are different." That is how I feel about this discussion. In the end (in practice) if we are winning big with an outsized portion of 5 star players, I think these concerns become secondary very quickly. In my mind, there's really only two questions that should ultimately matter: Is this recruit an upgrade over what we currently have on the roster? Will this recruit represent the university well? There is a secondary question as to whether playing time for a one and done stunts the development of a 3-4 year player, however, I think you could also argue that going against better talent in practice every day makes that player better.
  13. They key word was "winning" with 3 and 4 year players. All else being equal, I think people would rather win with players who stick around. But all things are not equal, and I agree with everything in your post.
  14. I agree with this. Look, I think we would all rather win with 3 and 4 year players than one and done rentals...however, I think we all want to win. As long as things are on the up and up, if we won a national championship with 4 one and done players, I don't think anyone is going to be writing Fred Glass letters.
  15. Why does there have to be just one or two problems? Ramsey does some things well, but his lack of arm strength is a limiting factor for this team. It’s really hard to consistently sustain drives when we’re throwing check down after check down after check down. We did not lose because of Ramsey yesterday, but he’s not the type of qb that is ever going to make up for mistakes elsewhere to come up with a win.
  16. Way over my head? Is part of your job as a mod to be condescending? You just talked about a straw man and yet you’re the one guilty of it. No one said they are a great team. The point that was made is that they are much better than us right now. You are also discounting the fact that Purdue’s losses were all early and they’ve clearly improved. You can keep talking about Eastern Michigan, but the simple fact is that Purdue is now a different team.
  17. And yet they f’ing won the game...by 29 no less. What’s the point it talking about whether they would win if they played again? They executed when they had to and that is something that IU never does. When is that last time we beat an upper tier big ten team by even 1?
  18. I see that post is gone but how could anyone not doubt IU at this point? I'm thinking about running the numbers on how statistically improbable it is that we have lost so many games in a row against good teams. It's almost unbelievable at this point. I’m not on the fire Tom Allen train, but it is really easy to doubt IU football right now.
  19. Honestly what a joke. I was thinking to myself before the punt that if I was Tom Allen, the only thing i would tell Harris is that he can't fumble the ball.
  20. To be fair, it didn't help when Majette caught the ball and could have easily run the ball out of bounds for a 2 yard gain, spun back around inside...for a 2 yard gain. How dumb are our players?
  21. You're basing your judgment of Penix on literally about a quarter of play. I'll agree that Penix has done nothing to prove he's better than Ramsey so far but he needs a shot.
  22. This team never ever ever ever makes a big play on offense when it needs to...so unbelievably frustrating.
  23. Who cares. We know what we will get with Ramsey, another L. We'll probably get the same with Penix, but at least there's a chance.
  24. This. The fanbase at UCLA hates him and the whole David Grace situation didn't help matters. Plus, his buyout is fairly manageable at this point. Barring a run to the Elite Eight, I don't think he is their coach next year.
  25. Had a pretty good night last night. 5-5 for 12 points and 10 rebounds and 3 assists in only 16 minutes. Highest +/- on the team.
