Post-Butler Frustration Thread
Hoosiers219 replied to HoosierAloha's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
An embarrassment Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners -
I believe I posed this question last year, as it always seems difficult to ascertain when in fact basketball tickets will be available for sale. With that being said, when will tickets be available? I usually like to buy the package and then buy a couple additional games. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I agree, but CTC likes the small ball. I'd love to see Hartman at the 3, but he'll see some run at the 4 as well. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I would expect this lineup at times. If JBJ is healthy, I think CTC is prone to gravitate to this lineup. Also, swapping out either JBJ or OG and inserting Hartman. Newkirk, Rojo, Hartman, OG and Bryant. Newkirk, Rojo, JBJ, Hartman and Bryant. I still expect BIG things from DD on the boards and defensively. Would be interesting to see DD and OG or DD and Bryant playing together against the likes of Purdont.

Soooo...Bleacher Report has IU at #14, Purdue #13, MSU at 11 and Wisky at 10. I understand that these are early rankings and the difference is only five spots, but was a bit taken back by Purdue and MSU rated higher than our Hoosiers. Purdont has talent, but don't we have more? MSU might warrant a high ranking later in the year, but MSU is YOUNG and historically is far better in March. How much of Wisconsin's rating is based on their strong showing at The Dance? In long, is it unrealistic to see IU as the team to beat in conference with a question mark at PG? I think the margin is slim, but barring major injury the Hoosiers should be right there in the B1G Champ convo, high seed in the NCAA and sights set on no less than an elite 8. Too high of expectations for our squad? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

I appreciate the cupboard is bare at this point. I'm just shocked we didn't really pursue a grad PG or Quality JUCO pg if one was actually available. I kind a got a bit tangential in the Yogi Appreciation Thread echoing the same sentiment. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Yogi Ferrell Appreciation Thread
Hoosiers219 replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think those that under appreciated Yogi are going to see what they may have taken for granted this upcoming year. Yogi is a special PG. one we won't see the likes of for quite some time. I love to see him go second round. He's a legit backup point and a known commodity. A late second round grab could make certain GMs look pretty good IMHO. Surprised we didn't look a little bit harder at Ulbrecht or another grad transfer PG. I hope Newkirk is the real deal. If we have a pass first PG that keeps the defense honest I can't help but think we are a top 5 team. Can we get Yogi another year of eligibility? Ahhh...Dare to dream. Agree. To be honest, I was shocked we didn't take a run at a true PG via grad transfer. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

Well, isn't the deadline the 25th to remove your name from consideration? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners

1) agree. See us higher than 20 without Troy. I would argue that anyone following the team last year and the the development of our players and transformation of our mindset wouldn't possibly say that. 2) he doesn't have to be Yogi. There is no other Yogi. He was special. Newkirk really needs be solid on both sides of the floor Who knows exactly whom our scorers are.

Like many I have a love/frustration thing going on with Troy's game. He is one dynamic player, but if we're waiting for him to exhibit a basketball IQ it may be a very long wait.

Never really hear much about Newkirk in any media report. I think that is why he often gets left out of the conversation. I haven't really heard Anyone talking him up for being very excited about him in the lineup.

2016 (F) Freddie McSwain Jr. to IU
Hoosiers219 replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So nice, he had to post it twice. I concur in re: both posts. [emoji6] -
"Basketball ring"!!! How do you come to Indiana, ask for votes and mess that up? He's lucky they didn't run him out of town on a rail.

He narrowly missed Little 500. Is probably a blessing. -
TOS indicating DD is to undergo MRI on wrist.

Based on this tweet or in general? If Troy leaves, unless a high level defection for 2016 or stellar grad transfer materializes, why wouldn't you want a freak athlete like McSwain? -

If Troy would just take the simple shot using his God-given ability, he would be 1st Team B1G. He would also be a no-brainer in the 1st round. If he stays, I hope he cuts down on flipping the ball a and shoot more conventional shots. If he does, he will average 18 ppg next year. -

Getting close to 20 minutes would be ideal. I suspect you're correct and he'll get an average of 15-18 minutes a game. He will get time at the 4 and the 5, so perhaps his minutes increase significantly as the year progresses. -

Agreed. He'll get plenty of minutes next year. DD will be phenomenal around the rim on D. He will need some time offensively, but I like to think a year is all he'll require to avg. 10 pts a game his sophomore year. He'll grab boards and protect the rim this year. If he's opportunistic on the offensive end, with his defensive proficiency, I think most will be happy. I also feel his D is so good, it makes his O look lesser. I think it's a bit better than what he is given credit for in many instances. -

DD is a special defense of player. I hope anticipate that he will do for more than "A back up big to give TB a rest." He is a 6 or 7 man and a potential starter in the event of injury.
