IMO: #1. It isn't about what player it was and if they 'were worth sticking up for'. Perea's ability to dribble a ball, score, or rebound has nothing to do with whether the comment is fair game or not. #2: As you said, it was 12 years ago. Fact is that guys commit some pretty heavy duty actual crimes and serve less time than 12 years. I hated the action, but at 12 years it should be a distance blip.
