    Saw him play.....dropped 50 points on the team I keep book for. While we aren't very good, there were a couple of plays where we played perfect defense on him and knocked the shot down anyway. He's a stud but likely ends up at Purdue.

    In terms of a basketball coach, though, you have to care about the donor block in this day and age. And Beard likely would have to win with less talent than another hire when some big donors withhold money. Sorry, THIS will be my last Beard post.

    Last word I will say on Beard: if you make a hire that is one that is going to be ride or die, you want to make sure that you can ride with and still die.

    Signed an extension yesterday, yes? Personally I think he's a year or two from getting his P5 shot. I think it's important that he get his team into the tournament at least once. His team was really good last year but didn't win the conference tournament and was relegated to the CBI I believe.

    A good chunk of his losses last season were by a big margin. In particular, his team was really bad down the stretch (think they lost six of their last seven). Really went from being close to a tournament lock to being out.

    You could say that about pretty much every coach we’ve talked about. Huge crow eating day if Stevens is hired. Same if it’s a mid major coach that we turned out nose up at.

    The past two seasons 8 of his losses were by 15+ and three of those eight were by 25+.

    IU is making an investment when hiring the next coach. The analogy doesn’t really apply. It isn’t about ‘forgiveness’.

    It is possible. They aren't playing real well right now. I do worry for their sake that they could end up facing a team in the NCAAs that will go small on them and make it hard for Dusty to play Goldin and Wolf together.

    And Pat Knight to back up bailing him out. I'm not in favor of Beard being hired but it's not like I would stop rooting for IU if he were the coach. I just don't see it and would say the interest in more one way.

    That's my feeling as well. Whoever it is has already been concluded. Just a matter of when it will be released. In that case, any speculation about who they would be meeting with at some later date is nothing but speculation to something that isn't happening.
