Re: the crown tournament the crown tournament is to take two ‘automatic qualifiers’ from the big ten, big East, and big 12 and then have a committee select the rest. But they haven’t stated what auto bids are based on. Worth noting that before they canceled it in 24, they had discussed using Pom ratings and net ratings. worth noting that Ohio state and northwestern have both better net and Pom ratings than Indiana. Chris Collins post game said northwestern will not play in any postseason tournies and there is no way IU will want to.

IF it is McCollum (I'm not convinced it is), the article I posted in summary form on his coaching: he states that the one type of player he will not recruit is one with a negative attitude. he feels it is most important to utilize what a player does well. Sounds like trust in a player to expand what they do on the court in games is dependent on showing they can do it in practice. his offense is keyed on players reading the defense and ball screen angles. Says they run very few set plays -- says that the trouble with relying on beating teams with too many set plays is that it becomes predictable. Screens are not limited to a big setting a screen for a small on a pick and roll. Again, eliminates the predictability. Probably the most underrated aspect of his coaching is how well his teams have played defensively. Some have asked about the pace of play his teams had in D2. They were also slow but it didn't stop them from putting up points -- a couple of his championship teams averaged in the mid 80 points/game and for about ten years his teams had seasonal average points score between 73 and 84 points.

What I would say is that was likely asked in interview -- about adapting to a P5 level. One thing I do know is that Dolson was asked what he was looking for in a new coach and a major thing was that they needed to embrace the portal, not run away from it. So either that would mean McCollum is wary of the portal and isn't the choice or he has indicated that he plans on using it extensively.

Watching the games live at the BTT, is amazing much worse IU’s sets look than anyone else’s. Even with one big in the spacing is horrid

There is a basis to say he has recruited what he needed to win at wherever he’s been.

24 hours ago I went to bed worrying Brad Brownell was the hire. Tonight I will go to bed thinking it is McCollum. and yet nobody knows nothing.

And then the same people here freaking out because we didn’t get McCollum.

Or maybe Dolson simply told someone that he was really impressed. Nothing more, nothing less.
