  1. TJD's game improved in his time when Woodson was there. Just because a guy is a poor coach doesn't mean he didn't make a connection with a particular player.
  2. Duplicate season without the talent and with his best player out.
  3. Probably shot too well and Woodson didn't see a position for a guard who could shoot.
  4. +1. McCollum is riskier but the potential for big things. I don't know why anyone would turn their nose up at DeVries. Forget the fact that they didn't actually make the tournament this year -- he killed it at Drake and by every right his team should have been in the tournament this year despite not having their best player after their eighth game. For the conference season his second leading scorers was a kid who wasn't in the rotation at Illinois last year, followed by a freshman who was unranked and a guy who was just a so-so player at UIC the year before. That was not a talented P5 team and they went 10-10 in the Big 12. FWIW, the freshman who was unranked ended up being their third leading scorer in conference play -- 6'6" guard Jonathan Powell who lives in Dayton -- averaged 8.6 ppg, bulk three point shooter who shot 35% from three -- stated his intention to enter the portal today.
  5. He'll get us over the hill...er, hump.
  6. Just to confirm, I am not the unimpeachable source. I am at a least 15% peachable.
  7. I'll give a more in depth break down later, but I've been crunching some numbers on McCollum's D2 teams and comparing them his year at Drake. A couple of early notes: The number of shots both teams put up in Drake's games was 97 per game. The number of shots put up by NW Missouri State and their opponents per game in McCollum's last five years there was 102 and was never as low as 97. It's still a slow pace, but the Drake pace this year was lower than any year McCollum had in D2. D1 average is around 118 shots/game. The efficiency at NW Missouri State was incredible -- both in overall field goal percentage, three point field goal percentage, and free throws percentage. They also got to the line quite a bit. Average points scored for NW Missouri in the five years was in the upper 70's while they gave up about 60 per game. At Drake this year they averaged 70.1 and gave up 58.4. If McCollum kills it at a P5 school with quality athletes, expect the pace and style of play to be similar to Houston's.
  8. Teams participating in the Crown Tournament: Arizona State (Big 12) 13-19 Boise State (MWC) 24-10 Butler (Big East) 14-19 Cincinnati (Big 12) 18-15 Colorado (Big 12) 14-20 DePaul (Big East) 14-19 Georgetown (Big East) 17-15 George Washington (A 10) 21-12 Nebraska (Big Ten) 17-14 Oregon State (WCC) 20-12 Tulane (American) 19-14 UCF (Big 12) 17-16 USC (Big 10) 16-17 Utah (Big 12) 16-16 Villanova (Big East) 19-14 Washington State (WCC) 19-14 NIT field: SMU (ACC) 23-10 Oklahoma State (Big 12 (15-17) Wichita State (American) 19-14 North Texas (American) 24-8 Furman (Southern) 25-9 UC Irvine (Big West) 28-6 Arkansas State (Sun Belt) 24-10 Saint Louis (A 10) 19-14 Northern Colorado (Big Sky) 25-9 Georgia Tech (ACC) 17-16 Jacksonville State (C USA) Saint Joseph's (A 10) 22-12 UAB (American) 22-12 Santa Clara (WCC) 20-12 UC Riverside (Big West) 21-12 Dayton (A 10) 22-10 FAU (American) 18-15 Middle Tenn (C USA) 22-11 Chattanooga (Southern) 24-9 Bradley (MVC) 26-8 Northern Alabama (ASUN) 24-10 George Mason (A 10) 26-8 Samford (Southern) 22-10 San Francisco (WCC) 24-9 Utah Valley (WAC) 25-8 San Jose State (MWC) 15-19 Loyola (Chi) (MVC) 22-11 St. Bonaventure (A 10) 22-11 Kent State (MAC) 22-11 Stanford (ACC) 20-13 CSUN (Big West) 22-10
  9. That's good. Ready to be ready for portal szn.
  10. Drake plays a very slow pace of play -- as someone mentioned, 347th in pace. In points per game, though, they were 277. Given a 347th pace, that is very, very good. Know what's even better? They were first in points/game on defense.
  11. Insane is fine. Vindictive isn't.
  12. Yeah, but how will the adjust to devries recent injury?
  13. Different guy from what it looks like. Do not think Ngw and Tyme are the same.
  14. Depends on who the committee chair is apparently.
  15. @Uspshoosier I get IU not getting in. Don't agree with it, but at least I can see the rationale. But can you make West Virginia's omission make sense? They were in the tournament in 100% of the brackets on the matrix and had five teams below them. Committee chair said they took injuries into account.....but Devries hasn't played in three months.
  16. ummm....guys....they moved two that weren't on the bracket matrix list into the bracket (Xavier and UNC). That means two that were in the bracket are out. IU is 1. But the other....could very well be WEST VIRGINIA.
  17. San Diego State was already announced as in.
  18. Vanderbilt a 10 and Mississippi State an 8? They are over seeding the SEC. Probably means Texas in, IU out.
  19. Michigan seeded as a 5 doesn’t say good things for the big 10. Then again, Louisville being a freaking 8 should mean fellow ACC team North Carolina should have been out. Bracket matrix had Louisville as a 6 seed, 21 oversll
