  1. Because of what the committee has said in terms of handling winners/losers of conference championship games -- basically not penalizing a team for reaching their championship game. I'm not arguing for that thinking or against it, just going by what the committee has said. I think outside of a team getting trounced, the amount of movement you see isn't going to be major. I don't see Texas falling below the 5 seed unless Oregon loses, in which case Oregon is the 5 and Texas is the 6. The truth is I could see a scenario where Notre Dame actually goes to the 7 if Penn State wins of hangs really close with Oregon. Given the Georgia win, I don't see Notre Dame being any better than the 6 seed. The one item yet to be seen is how the committee is going to handle SMU if they continue to lay an egg to Clemson in the second half. If they are true to their word, Alabama is out. If not, Alabama is in.
  2. This first half for Penn State is the worst thing to happen in Penn State football history. Too soon?
  3. 14-7 Clemson. Could be a scorefest.
  4. Not so fast, my friend. My guess is Texas doesn't fall below 5 (6 if Oregon loses to Penn State). IU looks locked in at the 10 (with either Alabama and Arizona State or Clemson and SMU or Clemson and Alabama behind them). I don't see a scenario where IU is anything but the 10 seed, which means playing the 7. As of now, would say the seeds are: Oregon Georgia SMU (although they are getting skull drug in the first four minutes against Clemson) Boise State Texas Penn State Notre Dame Ohio State Tennessee Indiana Alabama Arizona State That would have us at Notre Dame. If Clemson beats SMU, I would expect Clemson to be at 12 and Arizona State to move to 4 as the auto bye and Boise State to move to 3. At that point it depends on what the committee does with SMU -- but I think the decision isn't whether they stay ahead of IU but rather if they are in over Alabama. In that case, just put SMU at 11, Alabama out, and Clemson at 12. The Penn State/Oregon game I expect not to have any ripple effect beyond the first 8 seeds. If Penn State wins, they would be the 1 seed, Oregon would probably be the 5, Texas the 6. If Oregon wins, I would expect Penn State to fall to 7 and Notre Dame to move to 6. So my two cents: IU at Notre Dame if Penn State beats Oregon, IU at Penn State if Penn State loses to Oregon.
  5. Georgia Tech was one play on multiple occasions from beating Georgia....but a Georgia win over Texas in the title game would have given them a bye anyway. If a three loss team can get a bye, the new CFP seeding is broken. I get allowing the top five conference champions in but you shouldn't give four of them automatic byes. Right now being the 8 or 9 seed is really bad because the winner plays the 1 seed in round 2. The 5 seed draw isn't bad....you host the 12 and then face the 4 seed who really isn't 4 in the CFP rankings; it will be Boise State (who is currently 10th) or Arizona State who is somewhere around 15.
  6. No, my mistake. I changed it.
  7. 12 of 16 for 71 yards, no touchdowns, one interception. Georgia threw the ball 30 times for 136 yards. Texas made enough mistakes to let Georgia win.
  8. Depends on whether you want to play Georgia or not. Personally, of the possibilities, I'd rather play Penn State, Notre Dame, and Georgia in that order. I think IU is locked in at the 10 UNLESS the SMU loses to Clemson and the committee keeps them ahead of IU (which I don't think would happen). The question is going to be if SMU loses to Clemson whether they keep SMU in or take Alabama.
  9. Georgia wins. IU will NOT play Georgia. This should shuffle Georgia to #2, ACC/MWC champs to 3 and 4, Texas probably doesn't fall past 5. That would put Penn State at 6 and Notre Dame at 7 IMO. If Penn State loses (and doesn't look good).....might fall to 7?
  10. What a freaking hit! That said, that's not targeting..........that is NOT the crown of the helmet by the Texas player. Actually was the Georgia QB who lowered his head into the Texas player.
  11. Run the damn ball, Georgia.
  12. He couldn't get on the field at Ohio State his freshman year despite the investment.
  13. Anybody else not really seeing anything special from either team in the SEC championship? Any reason to believe IU couldn't be in a competitive game with either of them?
  14. I am calling it: Texas misses a field goal and Georgia wins.
  15. Let's see what happens is SMU loses to Clemson -- especially if they lose badly. I don't trust that the committee would keep Alabama out. I am rooting for Georgia to beat Texas. I figure Georgia is then the 2 and Texas the 5. That would move Penn State to 6, Notre Dame 7, Ohio State 8, Tennessee 9 and IU 10. I would think that would end with IU playing Notre Dame should Penn State lose to Oregon and IU playing Penn State should the Nittany Lions lose to Oregon.
  16. IU transfer portal target Tony Perkins has been no bueno for Missouri.....injured for a couple of games, not very good in others. 22 mpg, 8 points, 2.0 reb, 2.5 assists and shooting 39/10/76. Same with Connor Hickman. 25 mpg, 6.4 points. Only shooting 29% from three. Leland Walker has played pretty well at Florida Atlantic. 30 mpg, 11.1 points, 2.9 reb, 5.2 assists. Amari Williams is the big man from Drexel that IU passed up in favor of Ballo. Williams averaging 9.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. I definitely prefer Ballo but Williams has been decent. Player I really liked but never gained any traction at IU was Toibu Lawal from VCU. Wasn't really a fit at IU but kid is 6'8" and raw and can absolutely leap out of the building. Was averaging a shade under 8 points and 6 rebounds at VCU. Landed at Virginia Tech and is doing pretty well -- 11.4 points, 6.6 rebounds in 25 minutes and is shooting 60/33/72.
  17. Indiana currently at 43 on POM and 41 on Torvik. Beginning of the season, IU was 38 on POM and 32 on Torvik.
  18. Over 60% of Rutgers scoring coming from their three stud freshmen. But it's not like a normal PIkiell team.....have struggled on defense and are 5-4. Best to play them early in the conference schedule -- IU plays them on January 2nd, which is probably a positive.
  19. He'd be a fit. 51 catches, 685 yards last year. Two years of eligibility left.
  20. The stars on transfers by 247 aren't usually up to date and aren't kept in some cases if the transfer isn't a high level one. He was fourth on Nebraska in tackles.
  21. I think that the Jordan factor had a lot to do with his ability to control them. Once Jordan was gone, Pippen had the playoff game that he refused to go in for the last couple of seconds because Jackson's final play wasn't drawn up for him.
  22. I agree that we could be a bubble team but I think if IU is .500 in conference, they're in assuming that the Hoosiers win their other remaining non-conference games. While there haven't been marquis non-conference wins, the SOS on Pom for the non-conference is still 134. Probably last year was a horrendous non-conference slate and games won by tiny margins. At the end of the day, all our non-conference wins have been by double digits.
  23. Yeah, and a really poor game from an Illinois team that was coming off a 13 point neutral court win over a ranked Arkansas team. Illinois is kind of the anti-IU team -- offense built completely around the three right now and when they are hitting they are hard to stop; when they aren't, you get the offensive output they had against Northwestern.
  24. Last year the season kind of ended in the non-conference because IU had to play so much catch up because of the lackluster play even in wins in the non-conference. The final results this non-conference season have had final scores that would be okay EXCEPT for the farce of a game we played against Louisville. 16 point losses to Gonzaga are games that can effect seeding but not really whether you get into the tournament or not. The Louisville game was flat out horrible.
  25. I like and trust what Ant Wright says -- he's a pretty big Pro-Big Ten guy who doesn't seem to have a bias against any team in the Big (although he is a pretty anti-Purdue fan guy, always making sure to post the 'you get in there and make it about you' meme any time a Purdue fan posts something about Purdue in a thread dealing with other teams).
