So just looked up BC Mega... On their last Bahamas trip, they split with Texas Tech, who was highly rated that year. Hmmmm. -

anyone got a boxscore? I've read a few articles, but haven't seen a boxscore yet. -
He's been back to IU, and back for this reunion. Time for my fav coach of all time to wear the right hat lol. Especially when taking a pic with a current IU player.

Could have done without the OSU hat....

(2022) - PF Kaleb Banks to Tulane
Southside replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Welcome aboard Kaleb!! Seems like a high ceiling guy with great ball skills for his size. Should be a good scheme fit as a 3. D and motor may need work, but assuming Rosemond and the staff know him well enough, so I can't see it being an issue. I'd like to see one more guy for 22, and hopefully a top 20 kind of prospect. -
My eyes ached the last couple years during CBB season, and I now need glassed.... All do to CAM's scheme... lol..
-
Top 25 at the end of the season is very doable IMO. I think the roster is good enough, and I feel very confident that Woodson's scheme/coaching will be better than CAM. We just need to keep rolling on the recruiting trail. We need some NIL dolla dolla billz yo...

Name, Image & Likeness (NIL)
Southside replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Other Indiana Hoosiers Athletics
I honestly don't care about prominent players being frustrated though lol. At worst, students athletes were given a free education. And a lot of the money went to funding sports and athletes in not so prominent sports and areas. There are lots of nuances to the whole topic. I do think the NCAA has been hypocritical though. It developed into a business a long time ago, and a lot of people have made money off of athletes. Now had the NCAA not been such money grubbing ***** for decades, I might think differently. At the end of the day, there used to be some level of amateurism in college sports, and those days were really nice. Now big schools are more about the money, care very little about grades (only that players remain eligible), and kids are mostly interested in getting to the next level rather than getting an education. The bigger question is where does it end lol. I'm just waiting on some HS kids to start demanding their cut lol. On the topic of distraction though, it's a real concern. Just like one of our players has signed on to a business where people can pay money to play video games with their favorite players. Do you really want your players trying to carve out time during the week away from classes and practice to play video games and collect a pay check. Now I'm sure most will be responsible, but as we all know, some people suffer with common sense issues. I don't know what the rules are, but I would hope that schools/kids limit this kind of activity during the season. -

https://www.insidethehall.com/2021/07/02/roundup-what-iu-basketball-players-are-saying-about-name-image-and-likeness-on-social-media/ I have zero problem with NIL in theory, but boy I hope it's not a distraction. Love seeing the tweet from XJ. -
My hope is we have multiple alphas this year. I think XJ, Stewart, and TJD will all be backbones. At least that's what the fan in me thinks. Hearing Stewart is shooting lights out, XJ is leading, and we all know TJD ballz. I think this year's team will be very very different. And I like it.

If we won a NC, I might not care lol. But anything, and I mean ANYTHING political only divides the fan base. And our fan base is already dwindling. 20 years ago, there were far less PU, ND, and Butler fans in IN. IU fanbase has been dropping off, and we just need to get back to basketball. I'd just like for people/fans to start enjoying sports again, for the game, and stop making it a tool for politicians.

I could care less about jerseys right now. I just want to win. Just nothing political please. Political = divisive. Just keep it simple. I don't care about font, colors, style.... I'd be just fine with any of the 6 concepts. Just win baby.

The Dunkin' Duncomb with the Moeller Mullet?

Much like Matta, it will be interesting to see what responsibilities Hill will have. I agree it's a very nice add. At minimum, seems the university is going all in as much as possible on both coaching and the admin surrounding the team. And I think we now know a little more why someone in Boston didn't bite on what was rumored to be a very lucrative offer (given his step up).

His hair, or just look in general gave me a Larry Bird vibe.

Michael Durr to Indiana (South Florida Transfer)
Southside replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
From the same article I posted, and specifically on 5/post options I'm sure there are more nuances and Woodson likely has his own formula, but guessing we'll likely employ #1. -
Michael Durr to Indiana (South Florida Transfer)
Southside replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Probably, but the discussion was stemming from comments about Durr and TJD playing at the same time. If they both are on the floor, doubt Durr will be the 4. Also comments on the topic of TJD's translation to the NBA, which likely won't happen so long as he's playing solely a 5. -

Yup. From the reports I read about TJD's return, is that he wants to work on those things. You have to think that was a selling point from Woodson. If he's going to play the same way and the same position as he did last year, not sure the benefit of him returning. He's not going to translate to the NBA as a 5 like he played last year. It'll be interesting that's for sure. -

Not sure I would really call a 41 O a two post offense. I'm no expert on the 41, but I've read a decent amount on it. Here's a basic article on the scheme if you're interested. https://www.basketballforcoaches.com/4-out-1-in-offense/ -
Michael Durr to Indiana (South Florida Transfer)
Southside replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Sounds like very balanced due to mediocrity lol. Not sure if that's good or bad. If they didn't shoot many 3s, that would lead me to believe teams could crowd low, making it harder on Durr. And the low scoring average of their players tells me no one drew attention. Overall, even more mystery lol. I got a giggle on the "slow, but faster than we were" comment lol. Yup, for sure we'll see different lineups. My gut tells me we might see TJD play a decent amount of off-4 if Durr has some power-move in him. Many versions of the 41 for the 5, but I can see a situation where we use Durr as a simplified non-ball side, or ball-side 5, and have TJD causing havoc on the other side. Again, that assumes Durr can develop a power move presence. I think I need to watch more tape on Durr. -

Southside replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
From a pure player development perspective, you'd want TJD developing range more than Durr, if I understand Woodson's system correctly. In the 41, there are lots of options for the 5 or "in". And TJD really wouldn't be a true post guy in a situation where Durr was the 5. To add, yes we've seen it, but it's been in an Archie system.
