Doubtful. Anyone we want to talk to is still coaching with the exception of people like Beilein, Matta, etc. Get ready for plane tracking!
-
Archie will be fine. Just wasn't ready for this stage. I hope to see him back at a large program someday. Just isn't ready.
-
Job well done, Mr. Dolson.
-
I agree. Times have changed. Doing things the "right" way will get you nothing. Give me Pearl, Drew, Sampson - I don't care. They win. That's all that matters. That's why everyone LOVES Brad. He wins AND does it the right way. Coaches like that don't come along very often.
-
Unfortunately it's one of the only ways to get our frustrations across to the administration. Emailing them and writing on message boards will do nothing. The only other way to make our point is to stop coming to games. Then, Dolson's job becomes a topic of conversation. You want to get someone off their @$$ and work harder and realize they're in trouble? Embarrass them. We don't have a single shooter. Indiana University doesn't have a shooter. With all the shooters in the State that should never be the case. Either we aren't recruiting them or we aren't developing what we have - that's on Archie and the staff. Time for him to GTFO.
-
We also just suffered a 3-game season sweep by Rutgers. Freaking Rutgers.
-
I don't. Maybe they sent feelers out to people around him but that's about it. Brad seems like the kind of guy that might take offense to someone contacting him about leaving his current job while he still has it. He's too ethical to give an answer. But his friends, people near him, they might give us a hint. If we want a guy like Brad, timing is going to be a HUGE part of making that happen.
-
I don't think he'll be fired until the tournament is over. All the coaches we'd go after are still coaching other than a few (Beilein, Matta, Fife, etc). At least the ones we're hoping for are still coaching There isn't much we can do until they're done. That guy in Boston will be coaching for a while. Can't imagine he'd talk to us before his season is over, if at all.
-
Makes sense. Crean at least had successful seasons, recruited well, resurrected our program, and won B1G championships. Archie has done nothing except disappoint. I'd like to think he'd resign but he just doesn't seem like that kinda person and I totally get it - he wants his moolah.
-
Tom Allen's contract simply speaks to the job he's done and how many schools must have been asking about him - football schools that have money. Well deserved and IU just told him we want you here for a long time. Great decision. Doesn't mean we care more about football. Dolson isn't an idiot....at least not yet. This also puts to rest the "2020 revenue will affect buying Archie out or spending big money to get a big name". If Dolson wants to spend some $$, it'll be there one way or another. Contracts can be built in crazy ways, fellas.

Truly don't get the Fife love. If he didn't go to IU, no one would want him let alone know who he is.
-
Don't buy it. If he were as good of a coach as some on here believe and could take IU to the promise land, someone would have hired him in the past 10 years - IU included. I'm not disagreeing that we may need an IU guy but that CANNOT be the only determining factor. Seems like it is with Fife. There are plenty of assistants out there that have, and still are working under hall-of-fame coaches.
-
Don't understand the Fife love. He hasn't proven anything - so IU just hires him and takes a chance? That sounds like a perfect recipe for more misery and mediocrity. There's a reason he's only been an assistant for the past decade.
-
If the rumors stated earlier in this thread about players thinking Archie is a prick are accurate - that's a problem - and a BIG one. Word gets around quickly these days. If true (I have no idea if it is or not), Archie needs to go sooner rather than later. Recruiting will suffer and we'll dig ourselves into a deep, deep hole. When players no longer want to play for their coach, things can go south quickly. Feels like this has already started....

I actually think Donovan is more attainable than some will believe. I live in Chicago and am a Bulls fan. It's my guess he's been hired here to deal with a roster stacked with young talent - that's what Billy Donovan does. Once he's done that, he's gone (~2 years if I had to guess). It was my impression he was talked to during our last search but IU wasn't willing to pay his assistants top dollar. Whether or not that's true - who knows. Beilein I'd love as well. It's not a sexy name but the man wins in March. At the end of the day - that's all we really care about.
-
I'm sure they stretch the rules just like everyone else. No thank you to Tony Bennett and Mark Few - I think people assume the success he's had in the WCC would just instantly transfer to the B1G (a big boy's conference) - I'm not so sure.
-
Fair enough. Most do. Just don't expect Championships. Expect Sweet 16 rings and participation trophies. Those who win Championships and Titles consistently aren't squeaky clean. That's a fact. At this point in my fandom I care more about wins than how their attained.
-
I truly don't understand the Dane Fife crowd. And before I get blasted, I'm an IU grad and could care freaking less if we get an IU guy or not. I want a coach that will win. While Few, Stevens, and Billy D are absolute pipe dreams - who gives a damn how old Beilein is and what he's said. He wins and wins in March. I'd take Kelvin Sampson back in a heartbeat too. Look at the coaches that win big and do it consistently - not ONE of them is clean. THAT is the reality. If we want to be what a lot on this board still think we are (a Blue Blood), that's what we need. Who cares how they do it.
-
Let Tom Allen coach both teams. Amazing how much his players love him and how checked out Archie's guys are...in January.
-
Yep. If they aren't calls 1 and 2 - your'e searching incorrectly. You'll get shot down but you have to first make them say no
-
Would LOVE Pearl at this point but no way Auburn lets him leave.
-
Unfortunately I think you're right. Ugh.
-
Right but that's the question - are we serious about winning or is money the only concern to the decision makers? I mean - they hired Archie. I have no confidence they'll go out and spend whatever it takes to get a proven winner. We'll end up with another mediocre chump that has had mild success in a lesser conference.
-
Beilein Kelvin Sampson - lets hear it
-
Would love Kelvin. Cheaters win. And I really don't care if our players are potheads at this point. I just want Ws
