Yes it would but if you called Dane, told him to come here to be on someone's staff and you'll most likely be our HC in a few years, I think he jumps. Maybe not, maybe he'd feel insulted - I have no idea. I also have no idea what the situation at MSU is and whether or not he'd be a top contender for that job. Izzo has at least a couple years left if you ask me.

Why? There is NO "IU guy" that is worthy of the job right now. No one. Why do some people think a coach (who went to IU) will all of a sudden become great when they get back to Bloomington? There's a reason all "IU guys" are either unemployed, not coaching, been fired recently, or are assistants - outside of Alford they aren't good enough to get a head job - so what - IU just gives them one of the best, highest profile jobs there is hoping it works out? Come on. No one on here would even know who Alford, Fife, Cheaney, etc are had they not gone to IU. Put an IU guy on the bench as an assistant. That's it.

Not entirely sold on him but he seems like an awesome guy. He just screams Texas to me and in this doc (Goodman runs it, sorry) his kids are going to be a HUGE factor in whether or not he leaves that state - or returns whenever the UT job opens up.

Crean won a lot in the B1G I wouldn't be mad with Bennett I just see his tenure ending the same way Crean's did. Inconsistent with a couple winning seasons sprinkled in there. Brutal offense. Just brutal.

I actually wouldn't be opposed to this. Why the hell not? At the very least, the world will love us. But she's an NBAer and according to all the arrogant NBA writers and insiders, no NBA coach would ever leave the almighty NBA for any college job.

We'll be a contender for a NC within 2-3 years. He'll get our program to a respectable level and that's how people need to look at him. As a bridge between where we are now (complete trash) to knocking on the door of where we want to be (back to blue blood status). Once we're there, every coach in the nation will be begging for a phone call from IU - including he who must not be named at the moment. The man can coach winners with lesser talent - sound like someone the majority of us are all sad about?

I truly don't understand those who are 1000% opposed to John Beilein. Yes, he's old. Yes, he won't be here long term but guess what - with the way we've reacted in recent years to coaches - NO ONE not named Brad Stevens will be here very long if the results aren't there. We just fired Archie after 4 years bc he sucked. The same thing will happen to Beard, Oats, Musselman, Drew, or whoever is hired. You can't come here now and say things will be different this time around - they won't. Beilein is the surest bet right now if you ask me if we want to be contending. Please don't give me the **** about what he said. He made a mistake and I'm willing to bet most recruits either don't know about it or have forgotten. Kids in HS don't pay attention to that nonsense or what JB was doing in Cleveland. Now - will other coaches use it against him - that's a valid point. But I'd even go as far as to say kids will look at the fact that he coached in the NBA as a positive.
